Be honest- Do you love your own photography?

I do wish that the NSFW issue didn't arise. It's not relevant to my OP.If an adult content photographer or model who consented to images produced, then it's good to go on here. I don't have any interest in those images and I do move on if I see them. I don't shoot topless, but may have an outfit where something is sheer, or implied, but that's not often.i shoot those within the fashion genre, which btw can be nude.
My personal feelings on NSFW is that as long as there's no dodge activity, or actual porn, which can constitute erections, penetration, then it's a broad genre which will upset many people.

tandi precisely. The site has all the tools at it's disposal to set the site constraints how it feels most suited yet you choose to lobby for that to be changed regularly. Whilst already admitted as being a minority viewpoint as forum members are just a vocal minority.
As to being qualified to comment on levels way beyond what you are happy with, then perhaps you should leave that to people who are comfortable and are actually interested
I've moved my filter stance to one of my own posts rather than have people argue the point on this post. I have no idea how we got so off topic and will start reading back to find out :-)
It is not the only thing that went off topic, the subtle or not so subtle shaming of photographers choice of models via age or other factor also doesn't have an awful lot to do with a question asking if you love your own photography. It is almost like there is a stock series of things that some members want other members to do differently that will at some point rear it's ugly head at some point if a chink of light appears to shoe horn it in. There are a number of topics that particularly entitled photographers seem to gripe over as well.
Anyway, I should have left that to the art nude photographers to argue, there are literally 1000s of them prepared to die on a hill over not having to label some of their work as adult, particularly when it has nothing to do with "industry" definitions of adult or artist perception of what a nude image entails
Well Gerry, i originally replied to this:-QUOTE "PP has a very wide spectrum of talents and there are some that are objectively fantastic, some that are great, some are competent and some that are not possessing the skills to model. This applies to Photographers as well.
This is life. Everyone cannot be great. I have my requirements for models that are just my requirements. I don't shoot with everyone that may want to shoot with me, whether they are fabulous or not. It's not a personal diss on the model and the model should not be affected by my decisions."
As Marissa is a photographer and model, the model account started the post and the photographer account stated the above, I was intrigued to understand what some of those requirements for a model were. So I enquired whether as a photographer she would photographer herself at her age if she was another photographer. It was not meant to be a ageist question because I already expected a specific response, that being positivity towards shooting older models, should they be suitable for the project.
I'm not asking them to label their artwork ADULT, just add another label especially for those lovely genitalia shots we all love, that would be fine :-)
As I said, people cannot cope with more than three, three is a struggle - and as the site has chosen it's SFW levels to be safer than IG or FB, that leaves a huge gap between SFW & adult. I remember having that explained to me on a course.
The logical thing would be to raise the SFW threshold to that of IG & FB, then all three levels would be instantly recognisable, closer, even if not universally admired.
But the site has always had it's own reasons for setting the SFW level where it is - and I also suspect that the site sees itself as different, so does not want to adopt things done on IG or FB, even if it would be helpful. Almost anything suggested along FB or IG ways of doing things has gone into the pretend I never saw that request folder.
There are swathes of photographers and models who shoot nude, soft erotic, lingerie, sexy & suggestive poses, themed images - some of which would be allowed on IG and some would not. The thing is, they are all interchangeable and some will do some, some will do all and the mix will be completely different. Adult is pretty much the same philosophy and it has it's own people who largely shoot within that domain. There is some crossover, between the two, but no where near the amount that sit within the NSFW categories / styles.
The current split there works, not least because there is a high proportion of art nude photographers and models who are very particular about what their genre entails. Good luck trying to tell them to split their work into two categories just because you are happy with topless nudity but not with frontal. Even if you are prepared to spend all day discussing it with them, the site I doubt would be willing to consider the backlash on social media about splitting their work, especially as some of it is by internationally renowned photographers and models - how to make yourself look dumb on the internet is not top of the site's wishes

That was my fault, I replied to Simon Carters comment
Quote": Then there’s selection bias too: when I make images which aren’t likely to appeal to a PP audience I don’t post them on PP."
And I replied
QUOTE "I have to admit I am really struggling with what to post on PP, at present I post anything anything up to the old Page 3 standard, but implied with clothing, objects or limbs etc (no nipples). Though I have those shots and have experimented with one topless published to see how well received it would be. It is not well liked and although I love some of the topless work more than the clothed ones (exhibitionist tendencies) I have no plans to publish anymore YET!
I maybe mistaken but the PP viewing bias does seem to push towards NSFW and ADULT, rather than SFW and I do struggle with the idea of having my new uploads next to an adult or lower half nudity photography, but I'm sure that the photographer and model in those photographs are equally as unhappy about being slotted next to me "

Then it snowballed out of controll, so I moved it to another post tried to take Gerry with me, but he wants to put his point over here, sorry!

I have serious bouts of imposter syndrome with the photography. There are some images of mine where I think I nailed it but those are few and far between if I’m being honest. I get the fact that most people are their own worst critic of course, but I’m rarely happy with the overall results.
MaristarOxley said, 1732721764
Thanks for being honest with yourself and sharing.
Personally, I think you capture your models so beautifully and your portfolio is quite strong.

I would be happy to hear, how you would categorise the genre you do. I'm not going to offer my opinion, as I am not here to critique or put you in a box. If you are clear in yourself, what type of photography you present and look for others with a similar feel to it, then maybe create a group for the style you favour.

Am I happy with what I produce? Yes
could I improve? Absolutely.
so, I’d say I like my work, but don’t love it…

I personally struggle most of the time with Imposter syndrome and thoughts of throwing in the towel but I persist and try to evolve if i feel stale or like I'm underperforming the expectations i set for myself and my work. I just tell myself i can always improve and to never get complacent, But I hardly post to my PP mainly IG not because I don't feel its good enough I just don't update all that much. For the most part I'm happy with my work and my progress.

Marrisa I have already tried to keep on topic but as you have pushed me off topic, I will politely answer.
Firstly, anyone can critique my work, I have invited it of those who wish to on my Port. I have thick skin and do not take things personally. As we have spoken about it DM's, I don't take modelling seriously, it is a fun, a stress free hobby, my work ranges from all types of styles or levels as I have mentioned to you. I do SFW and implied topless and one implied nude, I have also mentioned in my DM's with you that I intend doing a Male and Female nude art in the near future, which will be an A1 print for our home studio.
Back to the question, how do I categorise my work, for Purpleport Not Safe For Work will cover everything, I do not do Adult or anything that shows lower half. You have quoted something from my previous posts, "that viewing bias is towards NFSFW and ADULT rather than SFW", that comment should not imply that I actually just do SFW and if you check my portfolio there are only a couple of SFW's on there.
I have no wish to create a group based upon levels I am happy to see, if I did it would simply state all levels but those including any viewable genitalia and filtered adult content.
I do not criticise this site for filtering the way that they do, I simply engage in a conversation and discussion to hear other peoples opinions. I have just been told in a DM that admin should terminate the membership of anyone not happy with the way things are. A crazy world we live in, where someone doesn't agree with someone else, so they should be thrown out, have their paid membership terminated because they commented what they would like, but stated it isn't like that so I live with it...
