Be honest- Do you love your own photography?

Maybe watch some seasoned YouTubers like Lindsay Adler to get a breakdown of editing.

That's so kind of you to say.
I had enough of the negativity dished out on many group posts.
I am so grateful to all, especially in this particular thread that have kept the discussion very positive, thoughtful and also candid.

Since lockdown, it's been a different world with models wanting to do shoots that are anything creative. It's all solely about getting paid with no regards to whether the session is good or inspiring. Of course there are some Fantastic models on PP, but it's not easy anymore to find them.
I wholeheartedly disagree with this. There are plenty of wonderful models on here and other platforms who care as much about the end result as they do the money. There are some clues on my port as to who they are ;)
Totally agree Tabitha. There are still plenty of models out there who still want to be creative but also it's a world where maybe there is less TF understandably with models having expenses and bills to pay. Running a studio I still see many creative models who I still consider to not be all about money.

Models that I want to work with are a bit thinner on the ground since Covid but there are still plenty of models out there who want to shoot creative interesting images and will put themselves out considerably to get those results.
As I said earlier, I love doing all this stuff and that wouldn't happen if I didn't have such people to shoot with.
Of course they expect to be paid and I expect to pay them.
As an aside, my life has taken a different format and I don't have the people who I met pre Covid to mix with but in my case this is because they are all dropping dead or going senile.
I therefore try and fill every moment with a lot of model photography but lots of other things also.

I do say at the bottom of my comment, that there are some Fantastic models on PP, so I'm not saying there are none. I'm finding from my experience within my requests, that I find it more difficult. BUT definitely not impossible. I have two models I would shoot with at the drop of the hat and you can probably see them on my photography account.😀

I would Absolutely love to do one of those shoots with you.🙏🏽
We absolutely need to make that happen! Fly into Bordeaux with a friend or partner, soak up the charm of the old town for a bit, and then I’d scoop you up, a couple of hours later we'd be diving into the magic of the wet plate experience.
I’ve got the whole plan ready to go—just say the word! 😉
Maybe spring next year? It’s absolutely beautiful here at that time—perfect for a creative getaway.

Cheers Maristar, watch a lot of youtubers like lindsay, daniel norton, peter coulson, nathan elsen etc but most of them tend to focus on the shoots themselves…Lindsay is much more considered in her lighting choices than many though…i’m trying to watch some of the photoshop guys too

Not wishing to pick and argument, especially on such a positive thread, but I'd say that there are lots of fantastic models on PP.
Time and time again on PP shoots I have the pleasure - nay, the privilege - of working with highly skilled, highly creative people who have a shed-load of energy and enthusiasm, who are reliable and 100% professional in every respect, and are an absolute blast to work with.
My 'would work with at the drop of a hat' list is lengthy. Very lengthy!

I put castings out and unfortunately I don't get many suitable models. I reach out to models that I like and they don't express an interest, because of my photography style. I do get more of what I want on Instagram, so I'm not short of models. I have just seen a difference on PP.
I need to answer this on my photography account 😬

Here I am ( my photography account).
As you will see, I shoot men as well as women. The men available on PP are really scarce. The women that are great models here are not interested in my photography style. I get better results from Instagram.

If I may stick my oar in, there are lots of fantastic models on here, but only between a very few and most of those are suitable. The definition of "suitable", is particular to each photographer and can be very limited or so many they don't know how they will fit them all in.
Ultimately, if a photographer has a particular style that they feel only a handful of models have the right look, aptitude, levels required, price, ability to get to the location, length of shoot, willingness & enthusiasm, then they will view the site differently than a photographer who doesn't have complex shoot requirements and will just shoot who ever and what ever provided they are nice enough and allow a relaxing shoot, great images optional.
What we can notice is our own differences, if over time, we are finding less models or very few and our requirements have not drastically changed, then it is the availability of suitable models that has diminished. Anyone who is looking to develop is not going to think watering down their own shoot needs a good solution.
I'll take my oar back out now!

It can really feel like this. Often with little compromise.

I'll answer this as me the photographer and not as me the model, Maristaroxley.
There is a definite dominant style on PP which is not my style. That has never been a problem before and I have found some of my all-time favourite models from here.
There are indeed some excellent models here for a particular style. Many of them will not be interested in my style and I have reached out to some. As a photographer with strong ideas about what I shoot, I bide my time in-between shooting in order to get the model I feel I'm happy to work with.
