If the OP cared to put the image of a feline he entered in the competition into the Single Image Critique forum he might learn something to his advantage.

Competition entries are often way of topic but the winning entry in this one was spot on. This isn't the David Attenborough show It is a modelling site first and foremost so it shouldn't come as much of a surprize if members enter pictures of models. Should it?

not a sore looser at all but it is my opinion that the theme should be followed a bit closer to the title as it seems in many comps there are some shots that come no ware near the theme, take a closer look, yes it is up to the people to interpret the theme as they wish but as I said some are ridiculous and have no representation of the theme, just my opinion.

When you say that "the theme should be followed a bit closer" it seems that what you actually mean is that the theme should be taken literally, or should only be interpreted in ways which make sense to you. What a dull turn of events that would be. The competitions are (I assume) meant to be a bit of fun. Winning shouldn't be taken seriously, neither should losing. It's completely meaningless. I often fail to understand how people have chosen to interpret the theme. Sometimes even when I do understand it, I find it ridiculous. But we are all wired differentky and respond in different ways. That is to be celebrated, not attacked. Getting fewer votes than you hoped for in a pointless contest does not deserve more than a few seconds of thought, and certainly not a post in the forums. Maybe it's worth considering whether it is more important to you to create work that you are proud of, or work that will gain you the approval of random strangers on the internet?

You can see it easy enough if you look at the competition results. After all, they told us how many votes it got...

We've probably done this topic, have we not, now.

It is an FAQ I think, but without a summary.

I have a different opinion to most regarding the competitions.

I have always thought of PP as a model site rather than a general photography site, so I will not  enter not vote for any competition entry that does not include a person in the image.

To me there are lots of other sites that are set up for non modelling purposes.

I wonder if others have this same opinion and if that affected the votes on this competition.

Pix Photography I'm quite happy to vote for any image I like, whether it contains a model or not. My only win to date was a gaggle of geese walking through Hebden Bridge.

Hi to all, just a question about some competitions, do people actually read and understand the theme, as some photos have no connection at all, like the last one it's a CAT'S life, a cat is a fury 4 legged animal

It's is well known that some people enter stuff into competitions which only very tangentially connects to the theme and sometimes doesn't reflect the theme at all ("todger man" is notorious in this regard) .

Themes do have wiggle room - intentionally so.  "A cat's life" does not mean "Exclusively for pictures of cats", someone who dresses as a cat, or cosplays 'cat woman' would fall into this.

All these negative comments! it was  only something I have noticed over the years, as you don't go to a vintage car rally to show off a Tesla?

Never thought I'd see "todger man" and "wiggle room" in the same post.

Faintly traumatised now  ;)

ghyliain photo the only negative seems to be your original post? Everyone else seems to be open to that the themes are up to everyone's own interpretation

That analogy doesn't come close to working.  I suggest you stop digging and think twice the next time you get so worked up that you feel the need to throw a tantrum/pity party.
