Is this just a dating site?

Im not surprised to hear that this goes on, but I am surprised at the possible scale to which it might be happening. A model told me last week that she has been receiving very odd requests from pne photographer, whose idea for a shoot included dinner and wine, and now texts her good morning and good night to her mobile phone, as if some kind of relationship exists.
My advice to her and yourself is the same as others have mentioned, report to admin , do not move conversations to other platforms.
hope you have better luck soon, there are many more good people on this site than bad.
Exactly that, as if some kind of relationship exists. Thank you for your helpful reply.

Ellie -- I'm very sorry to hear of your experiences, but well done for speaking out.
In common with a few others on this thread I'd urge you to report these people to Admin. We know that these guys exist, but Admin can't root them out unless they're reported.
I very much hope that, from now on, your experience of this site is much, much better.
Thank you

Hey,
I joined PP because I fell subject to modelling scam and I wanted to answer some message threads asking whether that 'modelling platform was a scam(which it was!) I got some helpful advice, and so I took out a VIP package, and stayed.
Since then.. I apply for a lot of paid casting calls, and quite a few on a TFP basis. As yet I haven't had a single shoot. But I spend a lot of time answering emails and chatting to people; who mostly want to just chat, and who want to exchange fruity photos. Male models send me photos, and I say, ouch, you do realise I am 58? And they reply with, that was 1992... Here is me now.
And togs... interested in a shoot, but then, no actual date and could I just see a photo of you in your frillies?
I get that, as humans we are social animals. I also get, that as models on here go, I don't have that much to offer... But is there a button I could press that says * Genuine enquiries only*?
So ... any model's age and location and levels are going to be major determining factors in who wants to work with them - and young is more popular than mature, fully dressed is less popular than at least partly undressed, and Dundee isn't a big catchment area..
There definitely are people who don't come here for the photography* ... those of us who are fervently wish people would report those who are a nuisance - and sending / soliciting / swapping pictures which don't have a place in someone's port is probably grounds for a response of block & report.
My port has something like "I try to give all mails a civil answer, but when people haven't bothered to look at what I shoot, that's not guaranteed" - which is better than "No timewasters!" Sadly there isn't a way of pre-filtering those and models can only block / report them.
(* Anyone know the old joke which ends "and the bear says 'you don't come here for the hunting, do you" ?)
Thank you, that's helpful.

Sorry to hear of your awful experiences.
As already stated, report and block. Your mail exchanges here will provide the admin team the evidence of your complaints and they will remove offenders from the site pronto. Absolutely no place for people like that on PP.
Thank you

I can only agree with everyone above that this is disgraceful behaviour by these people, whether they call themselves models, photographers or whatever.
Please do report them to admin as soon as you can, and urge others to do the same - it is hardly likely to be a case of isolated incidents regarding just yourself. I suspect, sadly, that many people who are on the receiving end of such behaviour just de-activate without commenting, and their modelling journey just ends as a brief, bad memory.
Well done for speaking out.

Pablo58 or they speak up and get ripped to shreds on the forums.
It's interesting how people have very similar experiences overall but reactions to the same experiences vary so considerably depending on who writes the post.

'Macro' PurplePort = Old men pointing all they have left to still point & shoot (without pills) aka, their grimy lenses - at young women.
...aka, NOT photographers.
...aka, old men who happen own a camera and use this to (crudely) facilitate their (socially irrelevant) fantasies.
There is no such button.
You could elect to 'feel sorry' for them.Or you could elect to feel mislead, misinformed, and/or confused as to how our subjectively lost human-bean-race 'works'.
Either way - You & 'them' shall never the twain meet.
As you acknowledge, you are not typical 'model material'. There is a modelling agency in London for non-model looks that you could research and possibly join. You are (at best) a 'character model', and PP is not the venue for character models to thrive.Edited by Stanmore
I've only been here a while and have found that all of my encounters (no matter with what age or sex) on Purpleport have been 100% respectful, if not I would have used the report facility that Purpleport have kindly coded for that kind of behaviour!

There are an awful lot of so call maleodel here who ate just looking for hook ups.
Likewise, there also a lot of GWC. Easy to spot, just look at their quality of work.
It's a case,of report and block.
Even when you do get to the real people, you will still get enquiries which come to nothing.
You just need to be diligent.
Please can I ask what GWC is please, thank you.

A sobering reminder for us all of the dark underbelly of the site where these idiots still thrive.

It's not surprising to me that this goes on given the predominance of images featuring nakedness on this site, much of it (in my opinion) unnecessary to make a great photo. I feel uncomfortable with the number of photographers who ONLY shoot nude portraits. While I'd like to think that PP is a hidden corner for the art nude world, in reality it feels a bit seedy. But, rest assured, I have found many great models - character and otherwise - on here, so it's worth persisting. I'd work with you myself, but to be honest, Dundee is just a bit too far away.

It shouldn't be like that, it's meant to be a portfolio and networking site - you can report any profiles who are being inappropriate to Admin.

You’re gonna get this on any site that connects people with pictures. Hell, Instagram’s probably worse for models—tell me I’m lying. My Friend Sharon Laird was a model for years; you wouldn’t believe the stuff she got sent on Instagram and Facebook. At least on PP, you can talk to an admin and they’ll actually take complaints seriously. For the most part, though, the creators create, and they make some epic stuff. As for the... underbelly? Yeah, we all know who they are—no faces, close-up body shots lit by IKEA lamps and they always push levels for more. But here’s the Thing: they’ll always be around. Why? Because the sad truth is... they usually pay and as long as models go to them were always gonna see this popping up from time to time.
If you have the messages contact admin
