a few years ago i was asked if i could restore a late 1800s photographic studio wagon that used to sit on Swanage sea front, originally built for Walter Pouncy of Dorchester, a noted local photographer whose clients included not only most of my family from my mothers side, but also Thomas Hardy. A natural north light studio with its own dark room. For various reasons the project never happened. However, a photographer from London recently commissioned us to build a replica of it for his own use
It will be interesting to see if Walter Pouncys skill with wet plate photography and processing can be replicated today using the same technology and studio.
