Ripley

10 minutes in, and I can't can't think of anything more beautifully shot. Actually I'm worried I'll be so intoxicated looking at it I won't actually watch it.

I've not watched the NF Ripley yet, but there's this little known flick way back from 1982 called "Blade Runner", directed by some precocious young talent named Ridley Scott. It's really-rather not too shabby on the "beautifully shot" front, esp. considering it's pretty much the last H'Wood flick at this visual standard without any form of CGI... The eyes - those Replicant iris/cornea scenes - Are all in-cam', with (extremely) accurate lighting to eyeball to mirror angles.

..."I've seen things you people wouldn't believe"...

Blade Runner is indeed beautifully shot. One of the great movies from that point of view.

I watched the "Ferrari" movie recently (also Netflix IIRC) and that looks gorgeous too.

But Ripley - partly because it's in B&W, and partly because they've paced it quite slow - I think they're using about 3 times the time that the Matt Damon movie used for the same story - they've let the lighting and camera folks go to town; every now and then I wished they'd stop showing off, but it's jaw dropping at the same time.

Just watch the trailer on IMDB :-)
