Models' fees

I got bitten by telling people at work about what I shot, and finding that they distorted the fact . I was at a household name multinational, my HR rep knew where my work was posted and complimented me on it and when I changed departments I knew my new boss before the job came up, she'd seen a good selection. One person from the department I was leaving told her I shot extreme close-ups of genitalia. (Those bits rarely feature and I've never done a close up).  So since joining PP I've tried to keep my face and name in real life away from my NSFW work.

Plus showing my work rather than my face makes a lot of sense.

Retouchguy having seen the backlash to firms using AI models and pictures, I don’t think this is going to happen anytime soon!

The point being in the future you wont be able to tell, just look at some of the content available now, its extremely difficult to tell if real or ai at the professional level, these "Agencies" that offer add campaigns and modelling etc using AI use high end tech to create images so close to reality it's near impossible to prove its not, and that's today, in a year or two it will be a whole different game

below the Stradivarious campaign, yes AI

I gotta say I struggle to see beyond the ears.

(...) photographers work behind the camera not in front,

Sure.
But keep in mind that some are asking models to come to their houses/studios and bare it all.
Some trust-building measures and openness might not be unwise.

Byron perhaps they have other means of income that mean they don't need to undersell themselves

If a model asks a photographer for an image so she knows who to expect i see absolutely no issue and same goes if a photographer wants to showcase his image on his port, but a photographers image shouldn't be a factor in weather hes safe or viable to work with, his value is in his work and professionalism which is why we have portfolios and feedback system, it feels like your suggesting how the photographer looks plays a factor, it shouldn't hes not a model,

Just because someone doesn't look like a serial killer [in a potentially manipulated photo] doesn't mean they aren't a serial killer. Other more reliable means of forming an opinion about someone's reputation, reliability and the level of respect with which they treat others are available.

And not to forget that models stand with their faces (and often more) out in the public, not the photographer.
This has to be compensated as well.

yep they have real jobs or businesses with colleagues, clients and customers.

Photographers with their images on their portfolio has no relevance to the topic.

Might be a good idea to stay on topic; if you want to start (yet *another*) thread on the subject of photographers self images, feel free ... otherwise it's a pointless deflection of this thread.

I'm looking at some point to do a duo or possible trio shoot. I know if it's a paid situation it may cost a fair bit. I do wonder if other photographers who have done trios are loaded or have been approached for tfp.

Michael_990 2 reasons why I don’t use my own face as an avatar 1. I’m a fat bearded 44 year old short man who is going bald so no one wants to look at that and 2. I think it’s good to show my work so people can see what o can do and use that to draw people in.

There is a photo of me on my profile so people can see what I look like.

How did we suddenly go from the models wages, to it becoming the photographer avatar image? Who can I blame?

its not a dating site - both parties show what they (can do) in portfolio , if you need a photographer avatar image it would be the front end of a canon, Nikon or sony most likely, the op is asking about the value of raising model fees
