Standard of location shoots

I don't shoot from home anymore - not because I'm messy! It was actually since I got married I just feel my home should be my home, a personal thing.
But when I did I remember having to clear areas and furniture as we went along and photographers didn't seem to mind that.
I do have my own studio space, but it's tiny so I tend to do more of my own self portraits and photography there. I have done a couple of model bookings there myself but I always mention how small it is first :)
As for messyness , I have had a couple of model bookings at photographers homes that weren't totally clean but it wasn't crazy so didn't really bother me. We all have to live in our homes so they aren't always gonna look like showhomes.
I've done shoots in air bnbs and hotels and that's always a great compromise - everything is already set up and clean and still get that homely environment

Sounds a familiar story!
I've shot in locations of varying degrees of clean & tidy but usually mangage to get something useable at least.

To my mind this sounds a bit...entitled. For me the attraction of photography has always been that it is a great leveller, it opens doors to worlds I would never have experienced otherwise. It was a matter of great pride to me back in the day that I always met my subjects on an even footing and took them for what they were - I would sit in a ditch and smoke a fag with tribal camel traders or drink god-knows-what from the cup the desert gypsies offered me. The moment you talk down to those people you're finished. Things are less polarised back here in England, but even so some among us live less comfortable lives than others and may not have the means to lay on well appointed studio spaces for the benefit of someone who might pop in for 2 hours. People who don't want to take a chance on an un-hoovered carpet would probably do better to use their own premises.

I've completed a lot of shoots in models' homes but the only one I found objectionable was with a model who had several cats which were never let out. The place wasn't untidy, bit boy did it stink.
Generally I prefer home shoots to look like home shoots - so 'lived-in' is ideal. A pristine show-home not so much.

PS - I find a prism ideal for sticking between the lens and something objectionable or disruptive within the frame.

Terry Onslow Photography never understood that. I'd argue even the most basic studio should have a private dressing room, ideally with a shower. I always give models my ensuite at home for that reason - some are still like "I'll just get changed in front of you" but I've never felt comfortable with that, even if I've seen everything anyway (which I assume is why they're not bothered!)

Photowallah that's fair. But if I knew my carpet or floor were dirty I shouldn't expect a model to walk barefoot on it.
I just take the view of "Would I be embarrassed to bring a woman back here after a date?" - if so I probably shouldn't be inviting them in to model either! 😂

I offer home shoots and although I have pets my house is spotless. I clean top to toe every day barr when I am on a 12 hour shift in my day job, I would feel mortified if people came over and it was a mess.
I have a up to date album of images of my home on my port for people to inspect prior to coming over.
I have heard of this happening alot and I myself had a personal experience of shooting when I was a brand new model at a photographers home and it was filthy and stunk, everything was soiled, ashtrays to high heaven and dishes with mouldy food on, I didn't know better back then but now I would have to call the shoot off and explain my ADHD and OCD simply can not handle that much mess and dirt.
How can you even contemplate a shoot amongst so much chaos?

Somewhere to hang their hazmat suits when they pop off to the loo.
