Holly Alexander The streets of Birmingham could be deserted on Monday, loads of options there.

sd photography54 indeed :) and some of us have postponed photoshoots due to locations being closed or people wishing not to shoot that day. Anyone with a hotel booked already could post a casting call perhaps.

I know not everyone will want to work that day, I myself don't mind, and I cried like a baby Thursday and Friday and have been quite emotional about it all, but wouldn't find working to be disrespectful, and other models may feel the same.

I wouldn't want to do a shoot, probably more some gentle sightseeing to let my thoughts wander. Each to their own.

I've found a small nature reserve a few miles from my hotel I may pop along to, if the weather is ok, and try and shoot a bit of wild life, won't have any long lenses with me so going to have to be slightly up close wildlife. No doubt I will watch some of the funeral but don't think I can spend all day sat in a Travelodge room.

Steve Spurgin if you are into street photography, and have transport, you could go to birmingham city centre.

I'm more an event (gigs/festival/concert/shows) type photographer, but did a few years back (2015) venture into the City Centre on one visit to the TPS and didn't find it that great and that's with the library and museums open, I could of course and probably did miss the best bits.

When my mother died I went missing for most of the day, my brothers still ask where I was, and that was 32yrs ago.

TPS have finally updated their website:

Following the very sad news of Her Majesty's passing, we will be closing on Monday, 19 September as a mark of respect.

I think they should have said Closed rather than closing or at least said the show will be open as usual on Tuesday, there is some ambiguity there.  If I said the corner shop is closing Friday that implies to me Friday is it's last day of being open rather than saying it will be closed Friday which suggests it's open again on Saturday.

Steve Spurgin I agree. They should say closed and then reiterate that Tuesday opening will be as normal

Good point - I hadn't read it that way, but then I know what's happening!

Will be interesting to see how today pans out after they’ve rang all exhibitors to get feedback (and watched their reg numbers). If there is a decline or exhibitors are reluctant, they’ll postpone and all contracts and money will be carried over to the new dates. It’s just happened with two other trade shows taking place on the same day and the organisers of those tend to lead the industry.

Creativity Hub Events if they move the dates entirely, all those attendees and suppliers with non refundable hotel rooms though. I’d be totally annoyed

It would be worth them postponing rather than make a loss for future events. It's financially beneficial for them to carry over than do half a show but will all depend on what the balance sheet looks like after 2 years of not running.  Ultimately, if half of their show floor is saying they're not going to attend on the Tuesday (which is what I'm hearing from exhibitors who were at another show this weekend) then it would make more sense for Future to find some alternative dates with the NEC.  It's not ideal but it's happened with other shows this year; ICE 2022 moved from February to April due to exhibitor sentiment and DSEI Japan is on it's 5th roll over since 2019. The ones you need to watch are The Flooring Show from Ocean Media Group and Southampton Boat Show who are both supposed to be running on the same dates - they will lead the industry. Of course I'm hoping this isn't going to be the case, just playing devils advocate!

Creativity Hub Events yes i think you’re right, it’s just a smack in the mouth for small business. We’ve had one this week cancelled at work, so we now have a tonne of unusable marketing collateral and some promo items which luckily can be used for other things

The Southampton Boat Show is slightly different as they are running until the 25th anyway. I stand by my thinking that closing on Monday is completely the wrong decision.
