Would be handy if this error could be undone by the help of the staff. Mistakes happen...

We'd have to do quite a bit of reworking of existing stuff to allow it.

We do plan to look into putting a "are you sure?" popup in a few places when attempting to put images into private albums, in addition to the existing warnings.

We have the “Working with models” flashing headline every second day.

Maybe we could have “How not to delete your FPIs by accident” the other days?

;)

:P Huw and a "are you sure you want to confirm your stupidity because moving FPI will delete their status" popup

How about FPIs can't be moved to an album pop up with this warning... 'because most people are too thick to understand they might lose them'. That should work. ;) :)

The slight flaw in that suggestion is that the hidden folders option is the only way you can strip FPI's and people having added your images to collections, without deleting everything and re-uploading ;)

I am sure it wasn't created for that purpose, but sometimes you have to use tools in the way the site hadn't intended when they won't give you another button to help you :)

Stripping FPIs I grant you, but you can remove an image from a collection by

  • Going to that collection
  • Finding your image (they're stored in image number order)
  • Hitting the X on your image

Which is all well and good, unless that collection contains hundreds of images, because this is yet another of those paged collection pages, and there's no easy shortcut to get to the end, or 10 pages further on, or whatever.

Bit difficult trying to delete images from private collections and the button on account health only stops new collections, not removing old ones

What I actually wanted to do was to create an album that didn't appear on my portfolio without affecting the visibility of the images.

Just wanted an album called "Everything" that only I could see - not make all of my images private!

I wanted to sort all of my photos chronologically so I could pick one from each of the last 10 years for a "10 year PP anniversary" album/shared shoot. The only way I could see of doing that was in an album, but I didn't want that album on my port.

I'll know next time :(

That sounds exactly what "private albums" were created for ;)

It is the sting in the small print you could have done without

Private albums aren't really private anyway, which is a whole extra subject, but there are several ways you can find yourself viewing images in one and then scroll through! More Privet Bush than private!

But by all means, test your theory with this image in a private album, that has 8 images:

Yet I keep seeing thumbnails from a model I follow that are uploaded to a private album only and you cannot open them directly. There is even one near the top of my notification bubble

The thumbnails still exist on the image groups, as I had to go and remove them

Your team also made one an FPI a year or so back and we were able to click on the album and then scroll through it - maybe you have fixed that bug now

It’s really tough.

I hesitate to do anything with my FPI images in case of something like that.

Added to a private album after the fact would be my informed guess, without more info, because people change their minds or make mistakes.

If you can't view the image and can't view the album above I think any such bugs must have been fixed some time ago.

I don't have the means to check that, but this model has added so many images that appear as thumbnails in my feed and then clicking and discover they are private, sometimes no more than a few seconds after the red flash appears. As "after" can mean anything from a second to days later, if they put it in the private album immediately after they uploaded it.

Unless you have changed it, private albums removed images from personal collections and FPIs, but not from Image groups, which you have to remove individually, best through Image manager. The thumbnails were still in the groups and some of these groups were public, which ignored the "members only" setting as that applies to the image not the thumbnail

I suspect most if not all of the whole image viewing has been debugged from what I used to see - and some of the thumbnails as well. Thumbnails used to all appear in my "People I follow widget" which was very obvious when they uploaded a load at once.

The notification bubble is where I get most of my "This image is in a private album........", even though I can see the thumbnail, now

I don't believe we know if an image has been added to a private collection, just like we don't know if someone has created a bookmark in their browser to it, or downloaded it to view offline.

Gerry99111 said, 1652391510

When they are in private collections, they used to appear in the counter, but not in the list - so you could have collected 7, but showing 3 collections. The other 4 were private.

Either way, putting the image into a private album removed everything. Removing the button in account settings didn't remove existing ones but it stops new ones being added

That was the position as of a couple of years ago and the process I went through.
