Buy one less coffee in Costa instead and keep the VIP.

That can’t work twice - that’s how one is always told to pay for Photoshop CC! ;)

Michael H. I right and that's why we have no plans to make PP a "paid membership only" service. I'd love it if ModelMayhem, or one of our competitors, did it though :-)

Russ Freeman personally I think that this offers more. New VIP and awaiting to see the benefits etc of new purchase or let alone use them.

I find MC confusing ha! But then again I am just giving both platforms a chance

I am entirely sympathetic to the OP who is going to be very much worse off when he retires.

I have noticed however, over the last few days , threads that have suggested that models should  work for nothing and that they should be delighted not to have to claim travel expenses.

There is also the OPs point that he would prefer not to pay for PPs services.

I have even seen mention that we should all be doing it for the love of Art .....and that it is very difficult to sell the photos that are taken by photographers of the models that they love to shoot.

I can't help thinking that there is some sort of inconsistency here....but I just can't put my finger on it!

If you get past retirement age, but still work then you don’t pay NI. This saves me over £300 a month. I also take my state pension, but pay tax on it. So, right now I have a large disposable income, but this will shrink once I retire.

You can’t live just off the state pension. You can barely live off two state pensions if you and your partner are both retired. A £100,000 private pension pays about £400/month, so you need to have a huge pension pot to live comfortably in retirement. I think a lot of people will need to work way past 65 just to survive financially. Paying for model shoots once retired will be tricky for many.

Currently my retirement plan is "death in service". Won't be stopping with PP until then. Having too much fun.

I think that is a misrepresentation of what has been said in those threads. Like most social media, people read what they want, not what is actually written.

Model photography is a very expensive hobby, I am sure many enthusiasts find it frustrating that their income can't accommodate the spiralling increases in cost but then, who said model photography is for plebs? (I highlighted and enlarged that because it was wilfully missed yesterday)

What happens on PP in these sort of threads is a clash of economic classes. Professionals and people who can afford to operate in the model photography market and those who want to but the cost means they can't or have to struggle.

We have seen the flip side of the coin with threads started by models claiming they can't get enough paid gigs. Again, I suspect due to the spiralling costs.

Somewhere I assume there are meeting points between like minded people but the conflict gets in the way. There will be models wanted to do modelling as a hobby and happy with TF and photographers who can't afford professional or costly models.

The arguments and derogatory slanging match starts because everything gets tangled up as people try to find their way through the maze.

Well the OP currently has a VIP account, and the post is about cutting back expenditure when he retires.

What he does now is immaterial.

If all he has to fall back on is a state pension, he's in shit street because British pensions are shite.

It's a business, I think it's pretty good that there are free accounts.... Model Mayhem has gone quiet, Mad Cow doesn't really have the same level of interaction and planning tools ... I've gone full circle and found myself back at PP ... I use instagram as well for other models and agencies, but it's easier to arrange things here...

Alan Ewart its 4 pound if ent got that spare when you retire some think has seriously gone wrong ,maybe less paying models to work to nude more doing tf fashion shoots would be a better life choice to move forward in.

Don't forget Net-model . I think they have at least 28 members on there now.. Have fun whatever you do x

WOW 28 members and I'm already one of them so I've got 27 to go at.

I think I'll open up a model account on here as a cross dressing model. ( now who's going to be first to work with me.)

come on don't be shy.

@Jeanpierre fandango  I didn't mention anything about shooting nudes when I retire,  I've made an appointment for you at specsavers
