Question for Photographers and Models - Direct messaging hindrance or a help?

Just one wee, question, if I may please, before the thread is closed. When a photographer DMs a model that does not shoot the "higher levels", we receive an automated warning that reads:
Please note that this model does not shoot nude or adult style photos.
It is against site policy to ask them to shoot nude or adult photos, and you risk being removed from the site if you do.
Do models receive a similar warning when they DM photographers who don't shoot those levels?

I honestly can't comment as I would never do that
It's an automated message that comes up before we have even typed anything, presumably for photographers that don't bother to read model's portfolios before messaging them.Of course I know you would not do anything like that. You have a first class rep.
Sadly however, some of the spammy DMs I have received were pushing levels far in excess of what I shoot, despite the fact I make this really clear right at the top of my folio notes. Then, to keep my reply rate up, I actually have to reply to these people too. I'm sure you can see how this might be a tad irritating?
HiYes of course I can see that that would be irritating. Maybe in the future something could be put into place by admin so if you do not want spam messaging it can say so when they go to message you then if it is a generic spam message they would be sent a warning? I'm guesing you would need to choose on your port yes or no to this sort of messages then it will come up for anyone that tries but unsure whether this is something that could be put into practise as I am not that I.T savvy
It's not so much that it's spam, I think it's the level pushing I resent. Especially as I have to reply to it. If I did that to a model I would be removed from the site. And rightly so.
Which is why I wondered if models see the same sort of automated warning message that we do, when we approach models who don't shoot the higher levels?

I don't recall ever seeing it when I have messaged photographers.

Interesting. Thank you. :-)

It would be silly for models to get a warning about photographer levels. The warning is there like it or not because the 'model' who in majority is usually female on site, is seen as the potentially vulnerable party. The warning is not there to be equal.

Perhaps. Indeed I may be in the minority here. But I really dislike being spammed with messages to shoot levels I clearly don't want to shoot, and then being forced to reply to such messages. I'd add that there are an increasing number of both male models and female photographers. I'm of the view that members generally should not be pushing anyone else's levels, regardless of gender.

Nobody says you can't shoot a model that would do porn also in full body armor.
In a restaurant you aren't obliged to eat everything that is on the menu as well.
Who says a porn actress can't look good in a Nicer Dicer commercial, fully clothed?

Admin is it possible to lock this thread now as I have gauged everything I started out too and have received plenty of advice answering my questions, thank you :)
Just say something incendiary about Brexit or the current state of the Conservative Party and it will be moved to 'General Politics' and buried before you know it :)

I don't mind if I am following the model but otherwise it irritates the shit out of me.

If the model is touring to my area ( Brighton, London, Fareham, Hastings ) then I’m happy to be contacted ! Issue for me is I’m usually planning my finances a good month in advance so messages saying they’re in my area with the next 2/3 weeks I can’t really act on :-( likewise messages saying their in my area and their actually touring Bournemouth or Northampton again I can’t really do much about that! and yes I’ve had those!
London if they have a place to shoot is good but more often than not their contact me saying their in London but I’m then left trying to figure out risking shooting in London, spending more to hire a studio or figuring out if they’re amenable to then travelling further down south to me in Eastbourne!
Before covid I recall models often booking very nice apartments to stay in and shoot in! If those popped up I’d be more tempted because you’re selling a package and not leaving us to then figure out where? How much? on top of model rates etc

got 2 unsolicited messages in just under 24 hours.
Maybe some are reading these messages and having a bit of a laugh, at least, that's how i'm viewing it. :)

I don't care about my reply rate so if I am not able to shoot I happily ignore the message. I don't get butthurt if someone sends me a message, even if they haven't spent an hour or so carefully reading my notes and loving all my images and crafting a bespoke message tailored exactly to me.
People that get irritated when messaged on here must surely spend their lives seeking trivial things to get angry, insulted or offended by.
Send messages and consider that the pompous asses triggered by such messages who block you for it are just bullets successfully dodged.

i'm not against cold calls as long as the model and studio have given my profile a quick glance and the levels match (for the model) and they are in my area (if not, save the cold call for when you are going to be in my area) and as long as the studio is not outside London.

I clearly state on my port that I welcome messages from models looking to shoot. I've shot with some incredible models, particularly touring from Europe who have contacted me. Very often cut and paste and I couldn't care less, if it's somebody I want to shoot with and the dates match fantastic. If it's not somebody I want to work with I'll politely decline. What have I lost absolutely nothing and what have I gained a shoot with an incredible model that I otherwise would probably never got to work with.

I've suggested this before, I think it would be a great addition to the site. It would enable models to feel that they can contact someone without fear of receiving a knock back from someone who perpetually has the arse. (It would be technically very easy to do)
