Yes please.
My view is that threads in the first category are not games. So they shouldn't be where they are.
Someone once suggested a "Blow your own trumpet" group to accommodate them. Nod of approval from me.
Surely the only real difference is that in one scenario, you choose to premiere your own personal favorite image, while in the other, some random lottery individual chooses what they consider your best. Neither approach really amounts to more than one of your images being showcased for a very short time—until the next person comes along to comment—and technically both are about personal gratification and the hope that others will react to your image as well. If we accept that one is not a game type, then both aren’t really game types—shouldn’t a game have a winner? It seems some people just want to place more importance on the type of game where others need to choose your image for you—suggesting that they’re voting or randomly selecting it. In reality, they just want to get in line so the next participant will be forced to pick one of their images at random. I’ve personally visited those threads and sometimes been unable to choose a participant’s image; I ended up leaving without posting, rather than share an image I don’t care for myself. However, others clearly did pick one so they could join the queue…
The main difference is that in one type, I guess, people are forced to look through your portfolio in order to proceed
My experience is that you don’t get much interaction from these groups anyway. Apart from the initial posting, you rarely see many likes, suggestions, or comments, because people generally go there only to showcase their own images, not to view others. The ‘share a shoot’ threads or ‘image critique’ threads are where you see the most interaction by far.
Again, people post and read the sections in the groups they choose, and scroll past what doesn’t interest them. In my personal opinion, we should be promoting inclusivity and more participation across the groups, not adding new ways to block or remove—just my opinion.

I can't say definitively that type 2 are games and type 1 are not. "Games" is a difficult word to define.
For me the difference I suppose is that type 2 have a fun element to them. I like to play games. Games are fun. Type 1 threads don't involve any fun. Post your latest upload for example.....where is the fun in that? Its not a game its a procedure. Type 2 previous poster threads.....its fun choosing....and its fun seeing what someone else chooses of mine.
Most of my games contributions (which anyone can see) aren't remotely about "the hope that others will react to your image". 2 exceptions out of perhaps about 1000. Those 2 being my only contributions to type 1 "games"....both images with experimental processing when I thought I'd see if they got a reaction. Most of my contributions to games threads are to word games which don't involve images at all.

Is there any point in continuing the discussion as it's all done and dusted?

If a discussion is still ongoing and nobody is getting angry or upset—just talking—why the sudden need to close it down?
@philsphotos Maybe I’m wrong— I could be— but as I said, the only real difference I see is that in one scenario, you look through your own portfolio to find an image that meets the criteria and then post it, while in the other scenario, someone else goes through your portfolio to pick an image that meets the criteria. In both cases, the hope is that people see and admire your image—otherwise, why bother if nobody’s even going to look? That’s the aim of the game in both, as far as I can tell.
The second scenario might be more beneficial for some, because it forces people to actually look through your portfolio instead of you just posting an image and hoping it matches others’ tastes.
If I’ve followed this correctly today (maybe I haven’t, lol), all that’s really changed for individuals perspective using these ‘games’ is that, for a short time, All will be subscribed to all of the second type of game automatically—until they unsubscribe or learn to scroll—in the hope that this will somehow improve or make popular those game types that were always there before, just at a slightly different web address but apparently were not busy enough ie, not popular.
I do sometimes play in the games, if that's the right way to explain it (both types). Although not too often, many people like them because there are no arguments to be had. They are the least controlled and policed parts of the groups, and there's no room for conversation. Of course, it also gives a chance to show off images that fit the criteria of each game.

Looks like this has been a bit traumatic for some of the delicate souls who frequent these forums. A stiff brandy may help calm the nerves of those jolted by the wave of new forum posts from this new games group. Either that, or try lying down in a darkened room for a couple of hours may help.

People opted out of the games groups for their own reasons ... they shouldn't have been forced back in.
But hey, we're only paying customers.
