Intermittent posting problem?

Over the last few days I've (intermittently) had a problem when replying to group posts, or sending messages.  That problem being I type a bunch of text, hit the 'say it' (or 'reply' or whatever) button, the button greys out with the appropriate 'sending' message, but nothing happens.  I wait a while (meaning 10 seconds or so) and nothing seems to happen.   This action is normally instantaneous.

I've noticed it from time to time over a few years, normally it's an isolated incident.  But very recently it's happened a few times - maybe around 10 times in the last 2 or 3 days.  It's happened on iPhone and iMac (and previously iPad) so it doesn't seem to be device related.  That said all are running Safari.

Anyone else witness similar?

I do have a workaround, that being to then copy my text on the frozen page, refresh the page (noting that the refreshed page shows my message wasn't sent), paste the text in the relevant field, press 'reply' and - bingo!  So it's not the end of the world.  Just irritating and obviously not what it's meant to be doing.

The only times I've had similar is when I've had a dodgy Internet or Wi-Fi connection.

Few possibilities to try -

Press ctrl alt del and see if something is using all of your swap drive memory,

Have you tried clearing your cache ? Safari/ chrome etc  may have cached outdated data from the website. Go to Safari/ chrome etc > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data, and clear the data

have you tried another browser ?

have you tried to Disable Browser Extensions

Hope this helps. Certainly, I’ve had no such issues.

Thanks chaps. I’m on my home WiFi, which is pretty strong everywhere in my place so I’m suspecting it’s not that.

I’ve looked at the activity monitor on the Mac, there’s still physical RAM free (it’s a 64GB machine) and typically no swap space used. Processor activity isn’t high. iPhone / iPad are a bit more impenetrable! I’m using Safari on all the devices, I’ve not tried the cache clean for Pp on each but I’ll give it a try.

NOTE - spookily it happened as I was trying to post this reply from my phone. I’m not at home at present but have a decent 5G signal - uploaded the screen cap here

The only time I have had that in the last year was when I was using a terrible internet connection OR when there were issues with a VPN or DNS service.

Russ Freeman thanks. The connection is (normally) good, always good on the Mac, I do use a VPN when I’m out on public WiFi (currently just on 5G). Not sure how I can see what’s happening with DNS service?

I'm not sure either, as such issues aren't my domain.

My main internet connection is 3G, via a directional antenna on a roof, and I had intermittent issues with all manner of sites and services until I switched my DNS in the router and my devices to use Cloudflare's DNS service.

It could have been a coincidence that it massively reduced such issues.
