Recall unread message

Would it be possible to recall unread messages?

Sometimes they go unread for some time and the content becomes pointless - messaging about a shoot for instance. The sender being able to recall and delete it themselves would be a nice option.

I think as with all mail and all things internet, once youve sent it......youve sent it

While it could potentially be done if it was only within the site, the fact that VIP members can have the content of the message included in their notification email makes it impossible in practice.

This - and I can also see a potential rewriting history issue as well.

I thought it you go into your “sent” messages and see unread ones you can delete them there and that did the job…am I incorrect?

WayneS that deletes it for you, not the person you sent it to. Much like if you delete a text on your phone, it removes it from your phone but not on the recipients.

Ah ok, never had anyone reply once deleted….maybe they were never likely to reply to me :)

It’s possible to read messages without them showing as having been read. Probably on a phone.

There are two ways a recipient can read a message and it not show to the sender:

  1. In the email notification
  2. If they click the Mark as unread button below the message area after reading it.

Worth noting that one of the site’s main safety features is the fact that if you plan and agree on a shoot through the site’s messaging system, it’s the safest option and the only way admin will get involved in shoot disputes or misconduct. That would no longer be the case if others could easily remove conversations or selectively edit parts of a conversation, would it?

All good and valid points.

My original question was more aimed at an initial message, not about trying to hide or rewrite history.

It isn't a big issue for me but I see no point in a message, I've sent, being read and replied to weeks later. I've moved on by then.

It was a general question that was aimed at saving my time, and the respondents.
