We are excited to welcome the incredibly talented Maleficent to the studio this November for an epic concoction focussed on the cinematic era of the 40's and 50's and Old Hollywood. Together we are setting out to create a finely balanced combination of vintage cinematic styling with a touch of gothic magic. As is becoming increasingly common, we create the oxymoron that is an indulgent yet minimalistic set, using dark tones, candlelight and atmospheric touches in the form of carefully selected props; to set the scene for what is yet to come... Expect combinations of jewelled colours, deep blacks and rich reds; as we go full vintage vamp seductress, Studio Luminescence and Maleficent presents "Black Velvet."

Using high contrast studio lighting in combination with candlelight, expect dark atmospherics with a smoky edge... with sharp whites fading to black, your cinematic styled captures will tell the tale of movies from a bygone era. Shoot opulent outfits made up of corsets, gloves and more; you can expect gorgeous lace and, of course, velvets - all sympathetic of Old Hollywood styling with a unique touch from Mal!

The event is a group workshop - tuition* and guidance will be offered allowing for attendees to get the very best out of the day with us.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience - whether you're completely new to using studio lighting, you're wanting to play about with high contrast cinematic styled lighting, or you're simply wanting to shoot Mal in the innovative concoction that is 'Black Velvet' - we've got all bases covered here. At Studio Luminescence - all are welcome!

*Tuition is offered as a part of the event to anyone requiring a little bit of help or guidance. Specifically, tuition is offered on the use of studio lighting specifically selected for the theme, as well as different shooting techniques that allow you to get the best from the shoot within the parameters of the custom built set and studio space. We will work through a number of stunning portrait opportunities, 3/4 length shots as well as the option for full length imagery to capture all of the opulent vintage styling.

What can you expect from a Studio Luminescence workshop?

- Individual 1 to 1 shooting time with the model; with ample opportunity to capture a number of frames before swapping out with a fellow group member
- Respectful shooting agreement with only 1 photographer shooting at any one time
- Only 3 photographers in the shooting space at any one time following introductions – with the groups alternating between main shooting space and relaxation space
- Time to review images, discuss with fellow photographers and tutor(s) and then time to re-shoot following feedback / group change
- Help, advice and feedback on hand from the Luminescence team; individually tailored to your level of experience
