I adore working with Owen !! We have so much fun together and ALWAYS come away from a shoot with something spectacular! Also one of the things I admire about Owen is just how willing he is to share his experience, skills and knowledge with other people! He is a brilliant teacher and I 100% that if you attend this workshop you'll learn more about lighting than you have on any other you've been on!! 

Shooting on location  (and we're  talking about an indoor location here :/ ) can be a daunting prospect!   Especially if the location offers many options.  How do you work out where to shoot, what to shoot there, and how to light it?

Join Owen and I for a day, exploring the many amazing rooms at Basford Hurst Cottage in this immersive workshop where we'll work as a group to conceive, light and shoot images.  We'll cover:

• Sources of inspiration - from Renaissance art to pop culture throughout the 20th and 21st centuries

• Evaluating the location – looking for potential settings, and matching them with themes you have in mind

• Establishing the shot – where will your model be? Where will you shoot from? What will be in the scene?

• Augmenting and dressing the scene - props, furniture and fabrics

• Avoid making studio shots on location - how to make sure the location actually features in the shot

• Lighting the scene. Using the ambient light, and mixing in your own

• Rigging the lights - practical considerations, lighting solutions and useful grip

• Directing the shoot: what you need to be aware of; making use of the experience and knowledge from everyone else on-set

• Improving the shot - working your "buts" off

• Solving problems

Note:  this is not a "portfolio builder" or "group shoot".  we want to offer you more than a series of pre-canned setups!  The goal is to equip you with the techniques to arrange and conduct a location shoot effectively yourself.  We'll work together on the day to imagine and create concepts, work out how to execute them, light them and shoot them.   For this reason, the group size is restricted to 3, to keep the experience as interactive as possible!
