Gel Lighting and Retouching Workshop with Chris Conway and Jess Wilcock

If there's one thing we get requests for more than anything else at the studio, it's for gel lighting workshops! Since showing some of our regular visitors the amazing garments that model Jess Wilcock creates, getting her to us for some events has also been top priority. So on the first weekend of February we are combining all of this in to 2 full day events! As the retouching of gel images is just as much of an art as the lighting itself, both days will incorporate 5 hours of lighting tuition, and 3 hours of Photoshop, working on the images we've just created.

All of this will be hosted by myself, and for those who are only interested in the retouching side of things - we have opened up a couple of spots for just the 2nd part of each day.

Full Day Workshop (10am-7pm - £150)
Our workshops start with an informal lesson to go through some essential lighting theory and then we move on to creating 5 varied lighting set-ups - putting that theory in to practice by combining different techniques in to each one whilst teaching along the way.

They will all utilise coloured gels in some way, showing new and interesting ways to add interest to your photos.

The course content will include:

• Colour theory - choosing your colours wisely.
• Getting the best results by using different modifiers.
• Working with long exposure for creative effects.
• Common gel lighting pitfalls and how to avoid them.
• Hints, tips and hacks revealed throughout the day.

After we've created each lighting set-up, the 6 attending photographers will all have a few minutes to take photos of Jess on each one. You'll be able to add these photos to your own portfolio.

The full day workshop also includes a buffet lunch (please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements) and 3 hours of gel specific retouching tuition! More info below...
