The Workshop
A one day workshop aimed at photographers that understand their camera controls who want to capture both live dance and studio dance. You will learn about techniques to freeze movement and how to introduce blur.
After a short classroom session when our dancer and Andrew will guide you through some basic dance styles an the dancer will demonstrate the right and wrongs of dance positions. Andrew will then go into how to make sure you capture these moves successfully both as live performance when you are shooting dancers on a stage and as a studio shoot when you have control of lighting etc.
After a light lunch we will put it into practice. Using several different lighting set-ups you will learn the key techniques of capturing fabulous dance shots. Weather permitting we will venture outside to shoot dance on location.
Andrew began his professional photography career shooting live performance in theatres. An expert in lighting he now travels the world running photography workshops and courses.

The workshop is based in Wellington, Nr Taunton
The Event
The workshop runs between 10.00am - 5.00pm . It is limited to a maximum of 6 photographers and includes lunch. The cost of this workshop is £199 per person. Members of the Guild of Photographers qualify for a 15% discount. For information please contact steve@andrewappleton.com
The Gear
You will need a DSLR or CSC camera plus suitable lenses. we recommend lenses that will cover 24 -150mm on a full frame sensor, but please bring along your kit bag, and a notepad and pen.
