Why do I get image views but no profile views (or vice versa)

Firstly there is no direct relationship between image views and profile views. Someone can easily view one without seeing the other.

Why do I get image views but don't get profile views?

This is easy to answer. People can see your images without ever looking at your portfolio page from a wide variety of sources including but not limited to;

  • A search engine can send someone directly to an image.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Recently Uploaded Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Front Page Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Popular Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it by looking for image tags.
  • If you tagged another member in your image they might see it having looked at more of their work.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on their activity feed if they are following you.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the other members activity feed if you tagged them in it.
  • If one of the people they are following comments on your image then they may see it in their activity feed.
  • If one of the people they are following adds your image to a collection then they may see it in their activity feed.

Why do I get profile views but no image views?

This is not so easy to explain but if someone looks at your portfolio but doesn't click to view an image then it would suggest that something about your portfolio didn't pique their curiosity enough to look at your images. Possible explanations could be;

  • The thumbnail crops you have chosen are not interesting enough to click.
  • Your portfolio notes are so wordy that viewers don't want to scroll down to see your images.
  • Something in your portfolio notes instantly puts them off.
  • Your main image isn't interesting enough for them to look further.
