Why do hidden images still get views?

By Russ Freeman, written 1363515649

Hidden images are hidden from your portfolio.

They are visible on PP in all other respects.

If you want to hide an image completely from PurplePort, it's best to delete it.

There are many ways your hidden image could still register views. Here are some. There are probably more:

  • A search engine can send someone directly to an image.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Recently Uploaded Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Front Page Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Popular Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the Random Images.
  • They might view your image by seeing it by looking for image tags.
  • They might view it because it's in an album.
  • If you tagged another member in your image, they might see it due to looking at more of their work.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on their activity feed if they are following you.
  • Someone following you might have chosen to be notified of your image uploads.
  • They might view your image by seeing it on the other member's activity feed if you tagged them in it.
  • If one of the people they are following comments on your image, they may see it in their activity feed.
  • If one of the people they are following adds your image to a collection, they may see it in their activity feed.
  • It might be in a collection, and someone is browsing that collection
  • It might have been loved, and someone following that person sees it in their activity feed.
  • It might be in an image group.
