Wow.

The Boardroom is absolutely stunning and so versatile. I shot all day here with A Shot in the Dark and Penny Lick, we shot for 8 hours straight and could of done another 8 hours easily. The lighting is gorgeous and the whole setting is beautiful.

Not only does the room have great paneling but the windows and fireplace also make great sets.

Phil was so welcoming and great to work with. Always on hand to help and makes a mean coffee! The studio is easy to get to and has parking on site which is super helpful!

I can't wait to come back!

A Shot in the Dark

Well what can I say about this incredible studio?

I had high hopes from the pictures and it exceeded even those expectations!

The studio is stunning and really well kept, it's absolutely beautiful to just stand in and look around.

We booked a day here and could have easily spent another day making use of it.

The studio was kept warm which was really appreciated in this winter weather!

Lighting equipment is perfect for the space for when it gets darker.

It's biggest asset might be Phil, what a fantastic studio owner!

He's the perfect blend of helpful when you need it and leaving you to it when you're shooting, and he makes a really great coffee (WITH JAFFA CAKES). I'm not used to working in big spaces and Phil was so generous without being overbearing in his assistance when I struggled and it helped me really get the most out of my day.

The White Room.

Including the floor - an intriguing start, and it allows soem lovely effects.

Phil is knowledgeable and hospitable, and has equipped the studio well. There are great possibilities - and models will LOVE the fact that the Boardroom is well heated. That's so unusual.

I've not been before - but I'll be back!

Aside from having a beautiful studio and I mean beautiful, the service is exemplary. After discovering on my travels there to my horror that the humidity levels were through the roof and my hair getting crazier by the second I gave PHLY a quick ring... signal was virtually non existent but a text pinged through saying 'you tried to ring how may we help'. A quick explanation by me and I was informed Rebecca had gone home to try and find me straighteners and a hairdryer. I have to add this was literally minutes before my arrival. Talk about going above and beyond!!

From start to finish the level of service was outstanding, the studio is immaculate and has so much potential. What more can I say?? If you havent been yet you totally should!!!

I had another shoot at the very good PHLY Studio in Derby yesterday. Phil and Rebecca are full time commercial photoshop editors and Phil a commercial Photographer as well so renting out the studio is a side activity, but when you need help with something, they are instantly available and do what they can. Rebecca excelled herself when my model's hair got damp in the rain and when it does that, it goes off on a wobbly - a quick phone call to the studio before we got there and Rebecca immediately went home and came back with her own hair drier and straighteners. That's an indication of the level of care they apply to their bookings. Thanks PHLY. :-)

I adore working at this beautiful studio! So much natural light, Phil and Rebecca are a fantastic team that look after you while you are there. Plenty of assistance when needed and always happy to help. I shot there yesterday with them both yesterday and they are just great. A really creative team and a joy to work with. Just had a 1-2-1 shoot which I booked at The Boardroom with the beautiful Arabella. The studio is a lovely white area with beautiful Georgian windows and window seats. The natural light that you get is amazing (even on these dull autumn days). The communication with Phil (the owner) was excellent with prompt timely replies. Phil was happy for me to also tryout a new ring light I’d bought (with some great results). Phil’s wife, Gill, did an excellent job looking after both myself and Arabella keeping us supplied with lovely cups of tea. 👍

I can highly recommend this studio whether it’s your own booking or any of the events that they organise.

Looking forward to my next visit.

Well....I’ve just got back from an incredible shoot with Phil! We’ve both tried something a little different from what we are used to and it’s fair to say, I will definitely be shooting more of it & I think as will Phil! Sooooo much fun and such an easy guy to get along with! I can’t wait to work with Phil again hopefully In the not so distant future!

Absolutely loved working with Phil, he had so many great ideas and all of the photos turned out beautifully. Phil is completely at-one with his cameras, lenses, lighting, editing... the list could go on. The shoot felt professional but very relaxed at the same time - like I'd know him for years. Had my first shoot at the Boardroom studio recently and wow, what a beautiful building with abundant space, warm and full of gorgeous natural light.

Phil and co are fantastic and even had my namesake tea in stock as a welcome. It's always lovely to work around such friendly and warm people!

My third shoot at PHLY studio. Why do I keep coming back (and driving 75 miles each way) to use this studio?

It is a large room, has no sets, only a few props, but what is does have is character as well as an owner, Phil with Assistant Rebecca, who are both very friendly, easy to get on with, and instantly helpful if needed. The Boardroom is a large white room (over 8m long by 5.75m deep) with three large frosted glass windows (with Window seats and quite effective genuine wooden shutters that close properly) that give a very good even natural light. It has lots of studio lights and modifiers and this allows you to really play and learn using lighting, both natural and studio. I totally and 100% recommend this studio. I hope to keep going back there.

I had my first shoot at The Boardroom with the lovely Gingerface.

It is a lovely space, with loads natural light and a great staircase.

Phil and his charming assistant (sorry I forget the name) were fantastic, they were there to get me set in the right direction with the lighting and were always happy to aid or advise me.

I will certainly visit again and I have no hesitation in recommending the studio to any photographer or model

This was my second time working at The Boardroom and I just adore working here. Phil is always so welcoming and helpful. Booking the studio was so easy and communication with the studio is always prompt. During the shoot he was on hand to assist with lights or anything we needed including tea!

The studio itself is just beautiful! So much natural light and so many different places to shoot. So many options we ran out of time and still had lots more to do so we hope to go back again soon. I highly recommend working here! Thanks Phil!

I have worked at the Boardroom many times since I found out about it and I have to say I just really love the space!...

This time I decided to host a workshop and Phils comms were great, I really got a sense that he was interested in what I was doing, how he could help and even making suggestions which would work well in his space so that was awesome!...

On the day I couldn't of been happier! The studio was the perfect space for the look and style of what I was hoping to achieve and the results were better than I expected. Phil was brilliant throughout, helping to make suggestions, moving things around and just genuinely seemed to be enjoying it!...

I can't thank him enough and to be honest the workshop wouldn't have worked as well without him... a wonderful space to make into exactly what you want, with a studio owner who clearly loves photography what more can you want!...

We also had a little shoot before the workshop and the images are absolutely awesome, Phil got exactly what I was trying to achieve and the shots are just awesome!....

Thanks again Phil for everything!

And to all local photographers this is an amazingly versatile space, well equipped and great value. So get booking for the winter season!

It was my first time working at PHLY with model Arabella. A great space where you can really get creative.

Help was always at hand if it was needed and a warm welcome from the host throughout what was a creative model day run by Arabella. If allowed I will be back to use facilities again. A great space to work!

Had our first shoot last night.

And what a shoot it was!

Phil was very welcoming and helpful from the beginning. Was always making sure I was ok! We got through quite a few outfits. It was just an overall pleasure to work with Phil and we got some really nice shots!

Phil and the Boardroom were absolutely excellent to work with - Phil is polite, friendly and makes you feel at ease when working with him. The shoot was very last minute due to a cancellation at his studio but he had some amazing inspiration and mood boards already set up for my style and the shoot concepts we'd spoke about prior. The boardroom is a beautiful studio I would gladly work in again. Pleasant temperature, full of natural light that is able to disappear at a moment's notice with the big beautiful windows that are also a great feature. The amenities and tools available in the boardroom are great as well, and I had a wonderful shoot with Phil. I'd gladly work with him and the studio again!

Wow!! So so pleased I got to shoot here! I’ve been wanting to work here for a while and I’m glad the opportunity arose. I was booked for a 4 hour shoot so there was plenty of chance to explore the different sets and areas of the studio. Phil and Rebecca are so lovely and welcoming. I felt at ease straight away and looked after. Plenty of camomile tea to keep me happy ;)

The studio itself is just so beautiful. So much natural light to work with. Phil and Rebecca were on hand to help whenever we needed it. Lighting and setting up of sets wasn’t a problem, they were happy to help.

Amazing studio, great hosts and I really hope I get chance to shoot there again soon! Thanks guys!

I shot at PHLY studios yesterday, and I can’t say how much I loved it! I immediately felt extremely comfortable and welcomed to the studio, Phil is a hugely professional and talented photographer, he took some really amazing images and came up with some great ideas.

We extended our shoot from 2 to 3 hours to get everything we wanted to do in and it was so worth it,

I hope to return to the studios soon at some point, even just to have a chat with them! Really genuine and lovely people and I would recommend to anyone.

Pre/during/after communication was superb and there was absolutely no point during my time here that I felt uncomfortable or didn’t enjoy myself. :)
