I organised a second group shoot which took place at art asylum just yesterday. As ever, Sean, felix and Jane were so accomodating to such a large group from the very start and 12 models and photographers were very well looked after. It's hard to explain to those that join up to working on one of my organised events just how unique the space is at AA...but when people see it, many are just in awe of the endless space and opportunities there and get a real buzz from the images they can get. If you haven't been there yet...you have to check it out. It's great to see the studio getting more and more popular, AA deserves every success

I can't believe I didn't know I could leave a reference for a venue! I've had several shoots here at the Art Asylum and everyone has been been brilliant. It's the most amazing and unusual building with a very special atmosphere. Sean, Felix, Jane and all the other supporters, helpers and artisits make up an amazing team and the whole place runs like clockwork. There's always someone on hand when you need help or have a question but equally you feel totally private and able to relax into your work. The coffee is good and conversation better. The gallery makes a lovely place to chill out after a shoot or meet before. All in all its a great venue and as you'll see on my own port it's the studio I recommend!

I had a wonderful shoot here with several other creatives. The last time I entered this space it was The Timewalk, 6 years ago, and I love what they've done with the area now, giving it a new lease of life.

What a brilliant shooting space.

After a very clear and straight forward email exchange, with Sean, (who was very prompt in replying to all my odd requests) I had my first ever shoot at the Art Asylum Photo Studios today. Parking was simple enough and Sean could not have been more helpful and welcoming. This very unusual place (it's more than just a studio) is spacious and stocked with all kinds of equipment and good amenities. I would recommend Art Asylum Studio to anyone and would love to shoot there again some time. Thanks Sean!

This is one of those OMG references, why didnt I come here before! Sean welcomes you with those magic words, " Tea or coffee?". He was great helping me unload all the stuff I didnt need to bring and take it up the stairs. Then there was the tour! Once we got into the more interesting rooms for me I was in heaven. So many opportunities, so many different shots, the fact that I only used three rooms in eight hours was testament of how busy I was working with all things in the rooms. It was bloody amazing. Truely bloody amazing. I will be returning. Sean was the perfect studio manager, helpful when needed and invisible when not. I certainly owe him a pint. This studio and Sean come with my highest recommendation. It was an awesome day and one I hope to repeat soon. Thank you Sean.

Wicked, wicked place to shoot! Completed a fab shoot with MissyDivine on Saturday!

Owners are so welcoming and friendly; helping me set up knowing I was a novice; and gave me three great locations to shoot out of! The building is a place where when it comes to imagination the sky is the limit; everything from standard studios to industrial backdrops and even huge beer vats!

Got some fab pics and had a very enjoyable day!

Many, many thanks!

Sean replied to my initial enquiry re studio facilities and availability providing comprehensive details of the studio equipment and shooting areas. Sean even, very kindly, rescheduled a personal shoot in order for me to travel from South Wales and shoot for 5 hours

The Art Asylum is very well equipped and easy to find with two car parks very close by (currently £3.50 for all day). On arrival Sean greeted us warmly and provided a welcome coffee. He then provided an overview of the equipment including lighting and triggers and gave us a guided tour of all shooting areas.

Sean then left us to get on with the shoot but was only in the next room should we have required any further assistance. Coffee refills were frequent and very welcome.

I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot at The Art Asylum; it's a fully equipped studio and several locations all in one along with excellent hospitality and assistance from Sean. I'll definitely be back. Very highly recommended.

Thanks Sean

The Art Asylum is a fantastic location to shoot at and I had a brilliant time! I can shoot there for a week as there is so much to do!! There is a main studio, a derelict part that has amazing props, natural light, lots of space and rooms to shoot in. Not mention great lights and backdrops.

Sean hosted a studio day for me which ran very smoothly as pre communications was excellent and Sean was always around to help. Nothing was to much for him and I was very comfortable, warm and fed/watered frequently.

I have to say this is a perfect location for a studio day and I wish I had more time to shoot as I was not able to explore all that it has to offer.

A very enjoyable day, and I do hope to come back soon. Thank you for everything.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!:)

This is an amazing, unique location with many set ups. While a shoot can be well planned there are always fresh temptations lurking round every corner! :)

Opportunities range from gallery to studio to industrial to a natural light atrium in the old brewery. I had a great time for a whole day but can't stop thinking about other things I'd like to do here.

Sean and Felix worked extremely hard throughout, were great company and provided tea and coffee at precisely the right moments! Well done gents! :)

Art Asylum is totally recommended and I hope to be back soon.

A first time for me at this amazing, inspiring space - but I will be back (in fact, in 2 days)

Sean is helpful and friendly and there if you need him; there are almost too many great places to use, a good range of kit, props etc and plenty of coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

Thoroughly recommended.

Had another great shoot at Art Asylum with Missy Divine, this time using some of the other space available within the building to shoot in.

You're not just confined to the main studio and sets and there are some great derelict parts of the building that the studio has access to.

This time was a steampunk shoot and the old brewery vat room perfectly suited the shoot and Sean and Felix who run the gallery and studio were as ever helpful in the setting up.

Highly recommend visiting the gallery and the studio as soon as you can.

What a great studio. The new infinity curve is great- and there are lots of other sets to use.

Had a great shoot there last Saturday. Excellent space and great flexibility. Will definitely be going back to try out the other locations.

The art asylum is a fantastic studio located at Weymouth harbour. The studio is more of an open area than a fixed backdrop with plenty of interesting areas to be found around every corner, it also has plenty of props and lighting equipment to hand so inspiration to find the shots you want will be easy. The staff are very friendly and available at a moments notice without being intrusive and always happy to supply you with tea's and coffee.

If the art asylum wasn't so close to me I'd still be happy to travel far to visit this unique venue.

I've shot twice over the weekend at Art Asylum. As accommodating as ever you feel very well looked after and nothing is too much trouble. We also used some of the fantasic gallery space to shoot in which added a unique element to the image. My second shoot there involved a bit of boudoir and the guys made a set especially for it even though they have been extremely busy with the opening so very thankful indeed. If you are looking for space to shoot in in the area...you HAVE to check this place out!

I have shot as a photograper at Art Asylum twice during the conversation process and can confirm that it is an excellent space. Unique, with space to work and friendly people running it. A place where I found there was many great backdrops and spaces to shoot with.

Several important things that tick the boxes - it is very well equiped, parts of the space have really good quality natural light, there are some very interesting natural backdrops and of course it is being run by Sean Hepburn who is a brillaint and knowledgeable photographer.

I would highly receommend shooting there.

Ooo, I get to be the first to christen Art Asylum Photo Studios references section 😁.

I shot at the studios a couple of weeks back whilst the conversion was taking place. It's such an exciting environment to shoot in with lots of character and plenty of grittiness. I am always wary about shooting in abandoned and derelict spaces due to safety and being caught by someone, Art Asylum studios has everything you would need from those locations but is perfectly safe and legal. The space available is unbelievable and there is no other studio space quite like it in the area especially at their great studio rates.

The guys are really progressing nicely adapting it ready for its official opening, looking forward to seeing it when it's ready and can't wait to shoot there again in its many diverse rooms.

Have shot at Art Asylum photo studio during the period that the studio has been setting up I can say that the studio and the available different areas to shoot has tremendous potential and will be a great asset to all local photographers.

If you get a chance to book and shot there you won't regret it and it is run by a great team and is extremely well equipped.

There is just nothing like it and I'd highly recommend shooting there.
