I've bought a few items from Japan.  Usually arrive quicker than a similar item from the UK.  Sometimes wrapped in Japanese newspaper, a treat in itself.

Aha! So, not just me that happily spent an hour decoding Japanese newspaper adverts with Google translate 🤣

I follow a YouTuber (*) call Techmoan.  His interest is old audio gear and not photography but he talked about importing items from Japan.  Here is a link to his channel.  I am not sure how to quickly find the videos in which he talks about importing from Japan.
