Zoë Birtwhistle

Hi, I'm Zoë, and I'm a hobbyist model living in Sheffield. I'm interested in fashion photography and creative portraiture. My artistic process is highly collaborative and I invest a lot of energy into making original imagery. I think this approach is evinced by my references.

Artistic interests and ways of working

I'm interested in the avant-garde, the body as a living sculpture, clothing as wearable art, and photography as a story-telling medium. Anything surreal, fantastical, or experimental always excites my interest. I want to be able to take the viewer out of their day-to-day experiences and see something that they have never seen before.

I strongly believe that a bit of planning goes a long way when it comes to taking great photos, and if we're going to work together I will expect at least one phone/zoom call before we meet so we can explore some ideas together.

 

Physical appearance

My appearance is unusual, better described as statuesque and striking than sexy. I like to make the most of my height, width, and androgyny. Please do not book me if you want some floaty little waif.

 

Wardrobe

My wardrobe is substantial. I have a budget set aside for styling. I am increasingly focused on making unique costume pieces. At the moment I am doing a lot of work behind the scenes in this area, but watch this space....

 

Studio

I have a medium-size home studio space, equipped with a selection of constant video lights, backdrops, and props. There is also a lovely big window for natural light photography.

 

Availability

My availability is weekends and Mondays, with very limited availability on the other days of the week. I am happy to travel anywhere in the UK for the right project.

 

Rates and levels

I have a flat rate of £20/hour, covering all levels. However, I very rarely take on nude work and will not consider lingerie or fetish work under any circumstances. I apply a discount for for all-day bookings (5+ hours). I also ask for travel expenses for shoots outside of the Sheffield district.
