References for Velvet Goldmine Studio

I had the pleasure of working at Velvet Goldmine this morning for the first time, and - from beginning to end - it was a fantastic experience.

Upon arrival I was greeted by Phillip, and straight away was asked if the temperature was okay, whether I would like a heater on, and also offered varying drinks to boot. So I felt very well looked after.

The studio itself is a great space, with a fab variety of lighting equipment and backdrops... Phillip was always on hand if we needed him, but otherwise was very discreet in allowing us to just crack on with the job at hand.

All in all it was a great experience, and I have no issue in recommending Phillip, the studio - and it's free parking in central Brighton! - to anyone looking to shoot in such an environment.

Thank you very much again Phillip, I hope to see you again soon!

Had my first shoot at velvet goldmine studio,

When I first arrived the studio was clean, and well organised.

Phillip greeted me by offering if I wanted teas or coffee which was nice!

Phillip was so hands on it's really nice to see from a studio owner, he was helping adjusting lights, backdrops and ensuring the photographer was happy.

Phillip is a lovely guy with a great studio!

I visited the Velvet Goldmine Studio for the first time and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. Positioned right in the heart of Brighton, it was easy to find and has onsite parking, which was a dream.

On arrival we were greeted by Philip, offered teas and coffee’s. The studio was a great size, with a good selection of lighting and backdrops. Super organised and very clean. Philip was amazing, so helpful, and was always on hand to help if needed, but equally left us get on with the shoot. He really knows what he’s doing, and nothing was too much trouble for him when asked. I’m really pleased with the images that we created at Velvet Goldmine!

I look forward to using this studio again, and would have no hesitation in recommending it!!

I first used the studio when the studio owner, Philip did some 1 to 1 studio lighting teaching for me.

He is laid-back, friendly, funny and charming in equal measures.

The studio is well-located, well-equipped and Philip is available to help with general advice or lighting ideas when needed.

There is parking available on site ( a BIG plus for central Brighton ).

I can't imagine shooting anywhere else in Brighton !

Another absolutely fantastic day at Velvet Goldmine - Phil has been simply brilliant, gently pushing my development each time - getting me to explain lighting, pointing out stunning angles / ideas that I'd missed - all the time with good humour and grace. A genuine goldmine. I shall be back.

I have used Velvet Goldmine studios quite a few times. The owner Philip is a really nice, friendly and approchable person. He will help you with setting up the lighting.

Studio is always nice and clean

I shot at Velvet Goldmine on Sunday and again on Monday this week. Philip was quick at confirming the items he had available and booking couldn't be simpler.

Philip had the studio ready on time and across the two bookings, all of the models, MUA's and hair stylist found the studio with ease and with ample room for parking directly outside.

The studio was clean and warm, and while everyone was getting ready, Philip was friendly and chatty to all and kept everyone topped up with caffeine. During the shoots Philip helped with getting lighting to my required set-ups.

If you are looking for a small and reasonably priced studio in Brighton that has parking and is only a few minutes walk from trains and buses, then I highly recommend Velvet Goldmine. Thanks again Philip, I'll be for future shoots...

Had a morning shoot with Philip and Jade Lyon at Velvet Goldmine and really rolled a six with the combination - totally recommend him.

Phil was super helpful with setting up the lighting and full of advice throughout, I absolutely loved the banter throughout and once everything was right disappeared off to let me shoot - and back straight away when I needed to "phone a friend"!

Cups of tea and coffee, a portable heater! throughout! Enough has already been said about the onsite parking - it *is* everybit as awesome as people say.

I'm already thinking about when to go back!

I've shot at Velvet Goldmine Studio last week with Stargazer... this place is super cosy!! Friendly atmosphere, few good backdrops to use and it also has the most friendly host you could ever meet! :) Phil, who also makes an amazing coffee and helps out with the lighting whenever needed. We were really fortunate to use this studio for our shoot in Brighton, thank you once again and hope to see you soon again! :) Mona x

Hurrah.!!!...A studio with more benefits than you can wave a stick at ...if that's what floats your boat. It all starts with the parking which is right outside and equally wonderful is that the parking is free..Yes free parking...It almost makes you want to taunt any passing traffic wardens....Anyway a nice roomy studio,high ceiling (no flattening of the top of your beauty dish here)....you can work with the available set or backgrounds etc.....Nice easy atmosphere to work in... plus another real perk, plenty of tea made and supplied by the ever so helpful owner Phil.....I'll be back......Hmmmm must remember that... could make a good catchphrase.

Wow what an amazing find! Tucked away just behind the Lanes in Brighton this is a great little studio.

Was made to feel amazingly welcome, enough tea to have a bath in and a friendly and very knowledgeable owner who helped me out when I needed it and left me to it when I didn't.

And almost the best bit - free parking! In Brighton! and not down the road - right outside!!

Will absolutely be using the studio again and would recommend it if you're in the area!

Fabulous studio located very close to Brighton station! Great lighting equipment, backdrops and the owner is wonderful!

I've shot twice here and have another booking for next week! Music player, changing room and lots of tea to hand :D

Great little studio centrally located in brighton with parking and loads of shops cafés etc around. Really easy to find, the owner was very personable, friendly and was there throughout my shoot to assist with lighting and back drop changes. He also was kind enough to make us lots of cuppa teas throughout the day and provided some much needed banter during a long days shoot which I really appreciated!

A well equipped central studio with a respectful and polite owner who heated up the place in advance - easy recommendation. Thanks very much, hope to be back soon.

I can thoroughly recommend this studio, owned and managed by the photographer Philip J Bigg, who couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful. The studio proved ideal for the shoot I had in mind and can see there is lots of flexibility for different styles of shoot. Although I didn’t use the facility on this occasion, the fact that a central Brighton studio has its own parking (directly outside the studio door) is a huge asset.

I worked at Velvet Goldmine studio on my Brighton trip for a full day booking with photographer; John D Clay. We had a full day booking at the studio and made the most of the day, easily taking over 1500 photographs of many styles from fashion to art nude at the studio!

The day flew by and was made extra special with Phil's fantastic lighting skills. As a result the photographs were extra beautiful! The studio is a very good space and height, with its own parking, which for central Brighton is fantastic :) Phil is also a very nice studio owner to talk to ;) Down to earth, professional and a fantastic host. If the client ever needs help, he is on hand all day. Highly recommended and I will definitely be back! Helen x

Very recommend Velvet Goldmine studios in Brighton very well run by Phil. He's is very understanding and professional, first time I've shot there and would do so again, different look to other studios I've used. Good value for money. Had very fun and relaxed shoot with Fiona York.
