I'm an enthusiastic hobbyist photographer and because I'm retired I'm able to enjoy lots of time continuing to develop my understanding and skills in photography, e.g. getting out and about with my camera gear, learning more by delving into online photography training courses, reading photography books/magazines, etc. I've gained college certificates and Diplomas in digital photography and photo editing. Initially many years ago I enjoyed landscape photography mainly. Some years later, through networking with other photographers, particularly a couple of portrait photographers, my enthusiasm turned to portraiture and since around the end of 2015 I've enjoyed working with experienced female models on quite a regular basis.

Please have a look at some of my images I've uploaded onto my portfolio here and, if you want to, have a read through a few of my references as well.

The camera gear I use includes a Canon EOS RP full frame DSLR camera. I have a range of superb Canon lenses, e.g. the 70-200mm and 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom lenses and the 85mm and 50mm f/1.8 prime lenses.

I love the outdoors, driving to places in the UK and scouting for good locations for shoots, it energises me and I particularly enjoy location shoots making use of natural light, with lighting modifiers when it suits (e.g. reflector and/or flash). I also enjoy indoor shoots (e.g. home or airbnb shoots more than studio) when I can use flash and associated modifiers (e.g. reflector, umbrella, softbox) as well as natural/available light.

My aim when working with a model is to achieve very good images in collaboration and prior to the shoot I like to draw up and post a fairly simple clear mood board as a basis for collaborating over ideas for the shoot. I find this and the rapport I like to establish make the shoot creative, relaxed, smooth flowing and fun and thus rewarding.

If you reckon you'd enjoy working with me you're very welcome to message me to see if we can arrange a shoot.
