Alternative, Body Paint and Nude
I have always been interested in visual art. In the '70's I majored in Commercial Art at ECU, but ended up playing music for most of my life. After I "aged out" of it, I became more interested in visual arts again, concentrating mostly on photography--and a little drawing.
Luckily, I was laid off from a company that closed, so I was able to study Photography for a year at RCC in Asheboro, NC--which rekindled my interest in black and white, (particularly), and more fine art photography than the sports and events photography I've been doing since around 2000.
When I was about seven years old, I saw a photograph in a Life Magazine; a black and white nude--and even at That age, I was flying up into the blackness and swooping down over the curves and into nothingness again...I was amazed, and I still am.
As I am getting older, I would like to more actively get into fine art photography--a far cry from the spray and pray approach of sports--and hopefully share what I learn along the way.
I am particularly drawn to lines--minimal lighting and subtlety--that seem to convey a kind of mystery that is up to the observer to either miss or enjoy. But I also like Humor and Parody. I wouldn't mind getting into controversial subjects and works , but more for learning, sharing and conveying than for shock value.
