Rochester Studios, run by photographers, Gino, Iain, and Dave, and makeup artist Dan, is a small studio but able to offer something a little different. Set in an old wharf side location that was once a brewery, we have converted it into not one studio but several separate and distinct areas offering something a little different in each.
Our main studio area has a 5m wide infinity cove, a black laminated floor area and two black walls. There is also a small kitchen area in the corner for refreshments. It is ideal for fashion and portrait work.
Moving out of the main studio we have a dedicated makeup and changing room with mirrors, clothes racks and even the important sockets with built-in USB charges to keep those phones charged up!
Next, we have a general living space set with neutral grey walls, carpet and a small window. Various furniture items can be moved in and out of the space tuning it into a living room, boudoir area or just an open space.
The creativity does not stop there. Moving to the back of the building we are fortunate enough to have an old 1930s style slam door lift with wood panelling, which is extremely popular for shooting in. This area also has two different graffiti covered sliding doors for a nice urbex finish to a shoot.
There is even more though! We have our sister studio The Asylum just next door which provides something even more unique and can be hired separately. This masterpiece of small space has been created by our good friend Alan and is extremely popular.
The main studio can be hired for just £20 per hour with lights. We are able to supply five 400w Elinchrom heads and three 200w Elinchrom heads with a range of modifiers including simple reflectors, strip soft-boxes, beauty dishes and a large octo soft-box. The heads are wireless triggered and can be operated as slaves to complement your own lights.
The Asylum can be hired for an incredible £15 per hour with a minimum period of 3 hours.
See our website for more information on the studios and equipment.
As mentioned, the studio is in an old wharf side building, next to the river in Rochester High Street, which offers some fantastic outside locations to shoot should you want to venture outdoors.
We know photographers want to see shots of the studio on portfolio notes so we have set up the Studio Images album below with images that show the sets or at least give a good example of the set being used. The portfolio tries to show the diverse looks that can be achieved in or around the studio.
