Little Mermaid'. However, this is set in the current day; portraying the ocean pollution (plastics/oils/chemicals) and how this would affect mermaids living in that environment.
For example; adorned with plastic accessory pieces, drained/muted colour palettes, reds for irritations, wild unkempt hair; opposed to the stereotypical mermaid imagery.
