The old Keighley Creative is on Hannover St and does have a sign over it but is now empty. Sorry it's confusing!)

Time 1330 - 1530. 

Models are paid £40 per session of 2 hours. Models who have never done life drawing before will be provided with a paid induction prior to starting.

We have a model booked until July 2024 but would still be interested in you if you wanted to model for our illustrious group of artists.

Cost for artists: £15 per week, (concession £12).

I have now had the full course of three Covid19 vaccinations and three boosters, last one 25/9/23. Despite this, I am now suffering with long Covid and so not doing very much apart from the basics.

 

About me as an artist

I am a fine artist working from my own studio in Idle, Bradford and work in Keighley Creative Life Room running life drawing groups on a Tuesday afternoon. 

I work with pencil, charcoal, acrylic ink, acrylic paint and oil paint. I also make fine art prints. Most of my work is not on Purple Port.

At present I have several ongoing projects relevant to PP.

• to study the face and create portraits;
• to study the human form and create life drawings and paintings
• to create ballet based art using a variety of media
• to run a life drawing group at Keighley Creative

As a fine artist I spend most of my time as a painter, creating abstract and landscape art and you can see some of this on my website. I am actively involved with the local life drawing groups and do a small amount of life drawing at my own studio. In the past I have worked as a fine art curator. 

 

Philosophy 

I create art which is suitable for people's walls at home.

I am into mutually respecting boundaries and co-creation of art with the model.

I believe in win win.

 

Practice

I am always happy to take enquiries from people who would like to model for me.

My sessions are very informal and we will probably chat a lot throughout.

I don't believe in discomfort so when it's time to move it's time to move.

I only draw for two hours at maximum, normally about 90 minutes. The level of intensity during this time for me is very high so I am usually pretty exhausted by the end.

 

Modelling for a Head Study / Portrait

For head studies / portraits I need you to be seated and in much the same head position throughout the two hours but we will have regular short breaks.

Portraits are a massive challenge in art. Achieving a likeness is often really elusive, so there are no guarantees - all I can say is that we can sit and draw your head and shoulders and see what happens. Please note that I do not do portraits from photographs so please do not ask me to do this. I only work from life.

 

Modelling for life studies

For life studies I need to you to be still for a period of time varying from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, sometimes standing (shorter poses) sitting (medium length poses) or lying (long duration pose). You will be naked throughout.

 

Payment

• People who are professional models and or come to model for me at my request are paid and the drawings are mine at the end. Rates depend on your experience.
• Models for the Life Drawing Group at Keighley Creative Life Room are paid a standard fixed fee of £40 per session lasting 2 hours
• If you would like to model for me for the experience and have no past experience of life or head study modelling then that's fine too - I get lots of requests to do this. We can talk about fees together but these are normally a minimum of £50 per session of 2hours. You get to keep the drawings taken at the time and go away with the buzz of having really been seen.  I always insist on meeting for coffee first so that we are both happy about going ahead.

 

Tuition

If you would like to learn to paint or draw please let me know - I am more than happy to teach the skills of oil painting and how to draw portraits and figures.
