After 25+ shoots, Jen and I agreed that we would stop leaving references for one another on Purpleport ... However, after today's shoot (the 3rd of three in the last week of 2023) I feel that I need to leave the following:

Had a brilliant time shoot today with Jen, and once again, she impressed me. I was struggling with the lighting for a set, and had taken great pains to point out how, and why, Jen's lighting suggestion could not possibly work ...

I was so wrong ...

After faffing around and failing for 20 mins, I finally tried her original suggestion. The result? The very first shot was the one we had been aiming for.

Jen, you are so much fun, and so easy to work with, that I forget how talented, knowledgeable and patient you are! I'm truly sorry, and I hope that this is the last time I make this mistake ... (no promises ... but ...) I will try harder in the future ...

Thank you for a fab 2023,. It has been a pleasure to work with you, and I love the ideas and images we create ... Long may it continue!

Jen is awesome, and an absolute trusted regular at the studio!

As a trustee, this means so long as you shoot with Jen during regular office hours, you meet the reputational criteria of the studio, and Jen doesn't need me, John or Dave over there to set anything up - that extra tenner I plonk on the top of the first two hours to cover the call out costs, is no longer needed, as Jen is able to do it.

Recommended obviously!

It had been far too long since I last shot with Jen and then suddenly here she was, available at short notice close to where I now live, and it was great that we could get a studio and explore three themes that we quickly agreed via mood boards.

Jen is a lovely person with a vibrant personality who is an absolute pleasure to work with. Having shot at the studio before she was able to make some excellent suggestions about backgrounds and props which turned out extremely well.

Jen's expressive skills are first-class. She understands mood and emotion and can convey feelings very subtly but strongly. This is really important to me in the work that I do and it is great to have a model who can respond to my (often slightly crazy) ideas and help turn them into reality.

Once again, thank you Jen, and here's looking forward to the next time!

Had my first shoot with Jen today and it went brilliantly. Pre shoot comms were good and she was happy with the shoot plan I created although I am not sure that we stuck to it that well (which would be down to me).

All the outfit types I had asked about she had brought and things moved smoothly from one set to another. Jen poses naturally and very little direction was needed. As she has worked in this studio more than me her ideas to refine the lighting were spot on.

Time, as always, went too quickly - Jen is very easy going and we chatted throughout. I hope she enjoyed the shoot as much as I did and I would have no hesitation at all recommending Jen to any photographer…

I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Jennifer Bardsley for the first time on a 1-2-1 shoot at Darwen studio. Pre shoot comms were perfect, and Jen arrived on time as planned very well prepared with a super selection of outfits that fitted her style perfectly.

Jen is genuinely a lovely person, so organised, with so much talent, creativeness, enthusiasm, and passion about her craft. Jen also benefits from having lots of technical knowledge about lighting techniques etc so definitely worth chatting through as I did then and you will benefit from her wisdom, especially knowing what works well when working with her.

Throughout the shoot Jen was full of ‘can do’ attitude and positive energy putting 110% effort into every shot ensuring she brings any concept to life with an amazing Wow factor.

If you are lucky enough to work with this fantastic young lady, then you’re in for an amazing shoot. Highly recommended. Thanks for your patience, hard work and a fantastic shoot, looking forward to the next time very soon:)

15th June 2023: Shot with Jen at a remote village in Lancashire, pre-comms were good and Jen managed to find the rather remote location. Shot predominantly at a derelict manor house with some shots around the local country village after the main shoot. Weather was uncomfortably hot and humid, but Jen kept posing throughout and changed outfits as necessary through the day. Jen posed very well without guidance and threw in many excellent poses. She was very patient as I faffed about with the mobile speedlights, necessary on this sunny day to combat some harsh shadows and some dappling effects in the wooded locations. Great shoot, will shoot with Jen again at some point, hence Highly Recommended.

Shot with Jen again last Wednesday. Another brilliant shoot, and Jen has now added lighting guru to her long list of abilities. After watching me struggle for a while trying to get the look we had agreed on, Jen suggested a completely different way of lighting the scene that would give a similar look, and, sure enough, the first image out of the camera with the revised lighting was our best yet. A thoroughly enjoyable (and educational!) day. I'm delighted with the results of our latest collaboration, and already looking forward to our next!

Just finished two more days shooting with Jen, both in the studio, and on location. She had forewarned me that she would be wearing a splint due to having recently broken a finger. Apart from not being able to carry as much, this didn't slow her down, or diminish her enthusiasm.

As I have said many times before, Jen is ace in the studio, but sunshine is her true forte, as she showed once again when we spent an afternoon shooting in and around the woods nearby. Every patch of sunlight seemed to make her glow.

A fantastic couple of days, but then I've come to expect nothing less!

Shot with Jen again yesterday (and for the previous 3 days!)

Any one who has read her references will know that I am a fan of hers. There is a reason for this. Every time we shoot, I am delighted with the results. Jen works incredibly hard to make your ideas come to life. Suggest an idea, and, if it is within her levels, she will add another dimension to it. Case in point? A suggested "wedding bride" type shot on a bridge. "If we shot it at dawn, the light will be really magical." Jen arrived at the agreed time (6:20am), with a beautiful (bare backed!) wedding dress (her selection and purchase) and flowers (ditto!) and then, despite the barely above freezing temperatures, proceeded to give a masterclass. She only stopped once the sun had risen above the optimum level, and only then when I pointed out that her goose bumps were starting to show! We then spent 20 minutes, thawing her out in front of an Aga, during which time she was already describing her ideas for our next shot. We proceeded to shoot for 9 hours that day, and, despite the early start, her energy and enthusiasm never dropped.

Jen also frequently suggests her own shoot ideas (Material World, A Bed of Peacock Feathers, and Champagne Hot Tub were all hers. The first two being completely original, the latter, being her take on the 1980's. Check back on my portfolio in the next couple of days to see the images.)

Outstanding and with unbelievable dedication, Jen also has a wicked sense of humour, and is incredibly good fun to work with!

After the number of times, and amount of hours we have worked together, I would describe her as not just a friend, but also, a member of the family, and I can't wait to work with her again.

Just had another two half day shoots with Jen at J9 and I'm already looking forward to working with her again next time next time she's back in Gloucestershire! Jen is more than just a great model, she's also the author / co-author of many of themes we shoot. She is prompt, well prepared, gives it her all, and above all, is great fun to work with, and I'm proud of the images we create.

I also love that I can ask her opinion and she will give me a straight reply ... even if its not always what I want to hear ... my photography has definitely improved as a result!

Thank you Jen. I can't wait for our next shoot(s)!

Recently shot 3 half day sessions with Jen, during the Christmas break. Each shoot had a different theme, including "Ice Queen", "Vikings" (with her partner Ryan) and "Aurora Borealis". Jen arrived early and well prepared for every shoot, and came with suggestions for possible variations and alternatives we could try. Had a fantastic time shooting with her (again!), got some cracking images (again!), chatted a lot, and got to try out all sorts of ideas.

Brilliant!

So much fun that I texted her on New Year's Day to see if she wanted to do a fourth shoot on the Monday, and was delighted when she agreed. This time there were almost no props, and no theme-of-the-day, and instead we just concentrated on portraits. Once again Jen excelled, the results were superb, and I came away with the biggest grin and some of our best images yet.

Thank you Jen, it is such a pleasure to work with you!

It was an absolute joy to collaborate with Jennifer on another remote shoot project and just like every occasion she was simply fantastic to work with. Her communication before the shoot was first class and she took on the ideas/themes we talked about to create stylish, imaginative images that fitted the project to a perfection. It's clear she's at ease in front of the lens and always strives to create the best image possible I'd very highly recommend her to any studio or photographer out there as she's a star :)

What I can say that I haven't already said before. Working with Jen is brilliant. I've lost count of how many shoots we've had...and we had another three this week!

Every time we shoot we try out so many ideas, I learn so much, and its always fantastic fun.

I had my 1st shoot with Jen on Sunday 2nd July. Jen is a great model, heaps of experience, very professional, and adaptable. We did 3 sets, Jen had so many poses and expressions I'll have a hard job choosing what to edit :-)

Third shoot with Jen, this time on location in Gloucester with a plan to shoot some urban portraits using some colourful street art/graffiti as a backdrop. Also planned to shoot some B-roll footage using handheld and drone mounted cameras. Jen arrived on-time and as usual was enthusiastic, energetic and genuinely excited by the project. Unfortunately I crashed the drone and we were unable to complete the aerial work but we got some amazing stills and some useful handheld video. Throughout the shoot Jen was chatty, helpful and creative. She has a wealth of experience as a model and I am always prepared to listen to her ideas and suggestions. I am already looking forward to our next shoot.

Shot on location with Jennifer on the 24th. The theme this time was "golf", suggested by Jen and for which she had planned the perfect wardrobe and several of the shots.

Despite the weather being much colder than expected (and neither of us attired for cold weather) we had a great time and got some brilliant shots (in between sitting in the cars to warm up!) exactly in keeping with our vision.

As usual, Jen was utterly professional and a joy to work with.

Shot with Jennifer (again) on the 23rd at J9 (again) this time with my son Aaron on his second studio shoot.

We shot a variety of themes ... everything from a strawberry "product shot" to a full on rock star, and Jen threw herself into every role with 100% conviction, often making suggestions for improvements.

Jen was very patient with Aaron, holding poses until she was sure he had the shot.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable shoot, and I'm delighted with the results.

Had my first shoot with the amazing Jennifer Bardsley at a private estate she has access to. We spent 3 hours wandering round the grounds, finding lots of good spots for photos. This was also my first dedicated outdoor shoot, she is so friendly and easy to get on with - it felt like we'd known each other for years - and the time absolutely flew by.

Jen adopts poses extremely well, comes up with good ideas herself, is full of energy and works tirelessly - a really enjoyable shoot on a hot sunny afternoon, nice and flexible with a few breaks, I think it was mostly me that needed a sit down for a few minutes. I took a mixture of colour and black & white shots, just looked at them on my desktop computer and I'm really pleased with the results. Jen is highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.
