I Shot at Hallam Mill yesterday.

Jim was super super helpful and was always there for if i needed anything.

The studio its self has so much to it. The pictures on here and the website dont show how much there is there.

There are multiple sets not shown on here that have been made!

The amount of space to work with is unreal plus choice of lights and light modifiers is all there. I used only a few of the modifiers available.

I loved the amount of natural light which i used for fill for most of my shoot.

I made my own sets out of what was there and couple of made up so many more.

I will deffo be back using this studio more in the future !!

Shot at Hallam mill last weekend with a photographer.

Jim however was a great friendly guy shown us around the studio. Jim offered refreshments through out. Pre communication was great too.

I would definitely work here again and recommended anyone who hasn't yet worked here to deffo give it ago the studio has slot to offer especially great natural lightening and loads and loads of other props ect

Modelled for a Camera club at HallamMill tonight. Jim was extremely friendly and welcoming. The studio had fabulous facilities and I was made to feel very comfortable throughout the evening. I would recommend to anyone and hope to model there again in the future.

I booked Jim's Hallam Mill for a whole day shoot with Joceline Brooke Hamilton ( at her suggestion) and Jim and his studio are just fantastic.

It has everything you could possible want in terms of space, props and facilities and Jim is always on hand should you need him ( which I did of course).

A really great studio with a great owner that I will definitely be using again.

What a cracking place! Used natural light from the countless windows all day with just some continuous light and a reflector on occasion for added fill. A vast array of sets and the land of a thousand props, what a creative space! Jim was a superb host and was always happy to lend a hand as and when required but otherwise just let you get on with it. Definitely worth the four hour+ journey it took to get up there. So worth getting a shoot there if you can! Will be back again for sure!

Second shoot at Hallam Mill, and first in studio 2 with the excellent infinity wall.

As before, Jim was on hand to impart his comprehensive knowledge of lighting to help me get the images I wanted. He is a great studio owner - there if you need him but never interfering, and makes a lovely quality coffee too.

I look forward to finding an excuse for my third shoot !

I recently did a shoot with Jim at his beautiful truedefinition studio. It was a hugely successful shoot, and this was due to Jim's huge talent and knowledge as a photographer. He not only had a wonderful understanding of lighting and angles, but also he had such an eye for the smaller details that I otherwise would not have thought of. I would recommend any model to work with Jim as he is a very talented photographer and an absolute gentleman to work with. I would love to work with Jim again soon!

I really enjoyed my first shoot at Hallam Mill. The studio is vast, with lots of natural light and many props. Sadly we ran out of time, but it would be good to return for a longer shoot sometime in the future.

I have wanted to shoot at Hallam Mill for some time and finally got the chance, working with Astra (model) and Kelly (MUA) on a 1920s / 1940s shoot.

The studio is enormous, with large windows which provide lots of natural light - probably the best feature. In the 2 hours available, we did not have time to fully explore the many options available, but we managed to get some lovely images for all of our portfolios.

Thanks Jim - we will probably be back sometime for a longer session.

An Eye for Beauty

I have long admired the photography that takes place at Hallam Mill but wondered whether I would every get to be part of that. Eventually 6 months ago I determined to venture 'up north' and I am so glad I did. It was an expensive three days with train, 2 nights at the Premier Inn just 100 yards away from the studio, and 16 hours of shooting with 3 different and equally lovely models. It required a degree of planning but I was so pleased that I made the decision. Hallam Mill not only has the vast spaces and those huge windows, but an Aladdin's Cave of props. I shot almost entirely using the available natural light, just supplemented with a continuous daylight stand in lieu of a reflector. The results are delightful and I now have a huge task of selection and editing - a chance to re-live three happy days! We were well looked after by Jim with regular 'brews', and nothing was too much trouble. I don't know whether I will ever venture to Stockport again, but if I do I know it will be a great experience. Jim, thank you so much for looking after me.

Been to Jim's studio many times, always a warm friendly welcome. We did a latex shoot today accessorized with some Rainbow Boa's and Pythons! (as you do!)

Jim is always helpful and nothing too much trouble. The natural light is awesome as is the choice of props, sets available. You have to use your brain tho as their is that much available.

The music is good as are the brews. Think this studio is quite unique to be honest.

Today was my first visit to Hallam Mill and I was really pleased with my visit. Jim was very helpful and the model, Mischkah was also first class and on top of that there were all the windows offering a huge amount of natural light. The weather today was pretty poor but there was still plenty of light streaming into the studio. There are plenty of other sets around the studio, far too many to use in one visit, but for me today it was the natural light that I was looking for and I was not disappointed. No complaints and hopefully I will find time to return and use some of the other sets as well.

Ive lost count how many times Ive been here, if you haven't been then why not? Its the biggest, lightest studio around with a perfect host who doesn't ever intrude on your shoot, makes coffee for you and ensures the heater is always close by :D Jim really goes the extra mile to look after me (and all the girls) that work here. Hes simply a legend. Always happy to help out or suggest lighting etc, and theres a massive array of weird and wonderful props to use. My absolute fave. 5 stars

My first studio shoot, so I booked a session at Hallam Mill with Elle Beth, knowing that the studio owner Jim would provide excellent advice and assistance. Great facilities, of which I only used a fraction. Highly recommended.
