Doorway Eze, France

This image is a photograph of a watercolour sketch I painted of a doorway in a quaint French mountain village called Eze. Eze is above Nice, and when you first see it, it looks like it is perched on the top of a mountain of rock rising out of the Mediterranean. The streets were so narrow that I spent hours walking around looking for a quaint window or door drenched in sunlight with buckets of flowers to photograph. Frustrated I sat down on some steps to eat some lunch and realised I was in the sun. Looking behind where I sat the painting is what I saw. Sometimes we try too hard :)
