Heeeeeey, S’up Fam!!! Been abroad for a while and just got back and living in Sketty, Swansea.
Been playing this game for a while now and really my focus down and develop my editorial/fashion/portraiture… so not really looking for glamour/boudoir/topless or nude. That’s not to say I have not nor will not consider these themes, but I’m now far more driven by substance, style and quality rather than shooting anything just for the sakes of shooting. I spend a lot of time planning and hunting themes specific to those I work with so good reliable communication is imperative! Knowing who I’m working with, how they look, what they have to shoot in not only allows me to know in advance what to offer/expect, but it cuts down on all the countless hours spent going through travel cases of mayhem and trying to build a theme instead of working. The shoot is only a small part of what I do, as along with planning I can also spend anywhere from one toc10 hours in post-production editing on an image, a touchy subject as others will tell you that photoshop is the devil!!
OK, so some of the editorial ideas on themes/locations and backdrops I’m looking at working:
Portraiture: Ahhhhhh beauty, eye contact, with/without make-up, either dark n sultry or subtle and airy, I’m totally down with whatever this can bring, all hair colours, eye colours, skin tones, genders, ethnicities… Jus make sure that your bringing you game!
Fashion: You’re going to need to have a sense of adventure and a range of accessories to really pull this off! Some things that may look good in the dimmed lights of a nightclub on a Saturday night can may not produce good images, although conversely, things you’d not be seen dead in can make truly stunning shots, so bold, cool, fun, stylistic, creative, attractive…
Street: From old rustic allies to graffiti covered hellholes, and even parked up in your Merc looking like something from an R&B music video! No essence, no substance… It’s all about the style!
Landscape: Long grasses, bright days and dusks, or dark deep woodland after the heavy rains… bodylines and backdrops is where I see these rocking.
Beach: Being able to see the coastline from my window now has me thinking of using a location I’ve only really worked the landscape photography during a high/retreating tide, sunset and new moon. I’m Welsh, this is Wales, so I’m not expecting (nor offering) any BayWatch style themes, rather rocking a fast shutter speed and popping a strong flash so that you really stand out in front of the water and that epic mix of blue skies and clouds… seems like an opportunity not to be missed while I’m here!
OK, so I’ve given a whooole load of ideas out there that I’m happy for people to appropriate, they are not new ideas, and as I’ve been told by countless models over the years, every photographer is different! But, I do think its good to offer some concepts down on a profile so you know what to expect. I could have listed all the nonsense that Ive done, people Ive worked with blah blah blah, but I’m only on here looking to create new and exciting work so have stripped my content back to reflect more of where I’m at and where I’m looking to explore. So yeah... hey!!! I’m currently looking to build up reliable relationships with people to work with who can bring continuity, flare, creativity AND have a bit of a laugh while we’re working together. Any thoughts, ideas or abuse is always welcome!
