An example of a failed handheld macro photostack. I decided to upload it as even though it did not turn out correct.

The artifacts around the edges and blurred spots made it a bit interesting. I noticed some movement in the corner of my window and ran to grab the camera, changed to a macro lens, fumbled the settings, rushing to try and gets some shots of this Zebra/Jumping spider before it legged it. I hand stack using natural light a lot. Instead of stopping down the lens I open it up to f2.8 or f4 to try get as much available light, shutter speed around 125/sec and try keep the iso low, but in this case it went to 1600ISO lens was a 2.5:1 image ratio which it tough to hand hold and get a non shakey shot while tracking a moving spider. Normally the idea is that you hope the subject does not move, and you take a series of shots where you slowly move towards the subject trying to get some overlapping areas in focus (it can be less than half a mm sometimes) the hit rate is not good and it can be frustrating at times. This is a failed stack where I did not get it right, when you do get it right the image is wonderful and you get a depth of field that no single shot can achieve.
