Beverley Thornton

I'm Beverley, a friendly amateur photographer with just over 9 years experience.  Since the pandemic, I have been concentrating on creating personal projects in photography,  apart from attending a very few shoots organised and styled by others. I do miss the creativity of styling and lighting my own location shoots,  and hope to gradually do more of that work again, within the constraints of my health, time and locality.  

I mostly work in tandem with my husband Terry, who acts as my driver, porter and lighting assistant, though my most recent body of work - a series of Portraits of practising pagans and witches - was done one-to-one and in natural settings, using ambient light.  I'm very selective in the shoots I undertake, partly because I have fibromyalgia and osteoporosis, and need to work within my own energy, but also because I work best on projects and with people that really interest and inspire me. I have a preference for portraiture, and like to shoot both character and beauty models. I've previously worked as a volunteer photographer for a local health-promotion charity, and I occasionally accept commissions in exchange for donations to cat charities in my home city of Bradford. 

I can offer a shoot wardrobe that includes vintage, formal dresses and steampunk in a small range of sizes, or I look for models with their own distinctive style. 

I shoot up to art nude, but I prefer not to shoot adult or fetish, nor contemporary weaponry, nor any imagery which shows women in states of subjugation.
