Fallen Giant

One of a series of images shot with Ella Rose near Oxford for my "Fallen Giants" Project. I have never seen so many large trees snapped like matchsticks, following the autumnal/winter storms we've had across Britain in recent years. While tragic in many ways, the loss of such giants isn't all bad in that they create holes in the forest for new trees to germinate and grow; thus ensuring the circle of life continues in these wonderful places. Having said this, the increasing frequency and severity of such storms, driven by climate change, may become an issue in some forests, at least in the short term; only time will tell.
