Chanel Rouge 1940s

These were taken at an annual event organised by the East Lancs Railway. Their 1940's wartime weekend has grown in stature over the years. Thinking that it might be a good idea to take a model with me this year, I sent out emails to 3 models who I thought could capture the appropriate look. Chanel was the only one who replied, but she was also the one I considered the most suitable.

Ian M (elsewhere on this site) and I both had more keepers than is usual for a shoot. Which is why I've put this collection into an album of the day. We weren't the only ones who thought she fitted the part. In addition to all those dressed for the day/period/war, there were any number of fellow photographers. On seeing us shooting Chanel, they gathered round, clicking away. I had this peculiar sinking feeling, thinking that another PurplePorter would get a FPI with our model!
