Film Monochrome Images

This is what I wrote in 2018....

Shot on Medium Format B&W film. The REEL deal!

Having more time now to devote to it, I have sorted out the technical problems (fluid scanning now yielding higher dynamic range scans of FLAT negative and a compressor for air-dusting) I have had scanning my archive and will now embark on a wholesale catching-up!

  1. Scan a selection (200+ images) of my dev'ed and contacted negatives (done Winter 17/18)
  2. Contact (produce a sheet of film sized images), file, select and scan my dev'ed uncontacted negatives (two years worth) (about halfway through now Winter 18/19)
  3. Start the long arduous process of developing my massive film backlog.... (all recent films developed, about half old ones developed Summer 18)

Should keep me busy!!!

The situation has changed!

After a painful start, I have finally started to shoot 5" x 4" sheet film, Cambo TWR54 in the UK and Wista 45D abroad.

I am still shooting 6x8 rollfilm as well, but have abandoned trying to develop the ancient backlog as most was (probably) XRay damaged.

I have given up scanning my negatives. I sold the Epson and built a copy device and light table and now photograph my negatives. Shame my Sony a99ii doesn't pixel shift, but I am combining 10 shots (each moved very slightly-fuzzy jiggle) to increase resolution and by and large gives me much better results than the scanner.

With the sheet film, I might take 9 shots and stitch, or continue the fuzzy jiggle... haven't decided....
