Classic Boudoir

The word Boudoir, has its origins in another French word "bouder" - to sulk, or brood, and originally meant something like "a room to sulk in" (or brood in a melancholic way), usually a bedroom.  I've stretched the definition a bit in this collection including other indoor locations as one might brood alone in a house. Being alone, means most of the time, there is no eye contact with the camera as the subject is gazing wistfully out of shot, or a window, or contemplating a body part.  Occasionally, there is eye contact with the camera and I imagine this to be someone just entering the room.

Others have stretched the definition of boudoir beyond all recognition, especially in the USA, where it now more broadly refers to sensual, sometimes mildly erotic, pictures in any setting, and there is an emerging but quite sizable market for confidence boosting photography for women.  This market is also emerging in the UK, and I'm proud to be shooting pictures like this for clients, and models alike.
