TFP Terms and Conditions !
Just to avoid any confusion, and set expectations I thought I'd lay out how a TFP shoot with me works. It's not set in stone of course - however unless we agree something different, these are the terms we'll be shooting under It's a bit heavy going, but best to get everything on the table!
I don't just shoot anything: I'm mostly known for colourful art/glam nude with fog, gels, lasers, projection etc with dance, boudoir and classic 1930's Hollywood glamour head-shots also well trodden paths. Also more than happy to shoot on location though, so do feel free to pitch an idea.
Communications!
All communications must take place here on Purpleport. This is to provide a record of what was agreed, including the date, time and duration of the shoot, via the Purpleport shoot booking system. If you contact me on another channel, we must move the conversation to Purpleport asap. As well as for your peace of mind, it means I don't have to type on my phone with my fat fingers A few days before the shoot, we will swap mobile numbers for communication on the shoot day, in case of any problems, travel issues etc. I will not be calling you on this number after the shoot, or stalking you on WhatsApp Any new communications will start on PurplePort.
What we will be shooting
A TF shoot is just as much your shoot as mine, so do let me know what sort of thing you would like. You can make a mood board on Pinterest for example, or send me links of images in my port, or from anywhere else, or you can leave it to me to put a set together with the vaguest of direction: "shoot me in sparkly fog with gels!" is more than enough . I do need to know broadly what sort of images you want though, in order to plan a location or studio (eg if you want classic boudoir images, I'll need to rent a location with good looking bedroom). If you opt for me to put a set together, I'll shoot mostly well practiced styles to ensure you get some great results, and mix in some newer developments and experiments. I'll send you a list of the things we'll cover before the shoot. I will put some wardrobe thoughts next to each shot (big flowy dress, tight outfit, lingerie, nude, sheer etc). We may also use oil and if we do, I'll also state this next to each shot. The oil will only ever be applied by you, and I will supply towels. Currently favouring Johnson's Aloe Vera Baby Oil Gel (just as shiny, and no mess!). We can use coconut oil as an alternative.
Shoot duration
I almost always shoot a full day. The amount of prep, planning, loading, unloading, set-building, lighting setup etc means it really isn't worth shooting for a half day or less. A full day's shoot also maximises your travel time, and ensures you'll get more images at the end of the day . Generally I look to shoot from 10am to 6pm, however this is very flexible - and I've even shot 8 hours from 5pm to 1am before
Allergies/Diet
Let me know if you have any allergies, medical conditions or special dietary requirements. I'll usually provide lunch, and water on-set.
Chaperones
Chaperones are more than welcome, as long as they understand the nature of the shoot, and you are comfortable posing in front of them. They may also get roped in to hold a fan or fog machine Note, some studios do not allow chaperones and this is out of my control - if a chaperone is a must for you, we ill need to use a studio that allows this, which may affect dates and what we can shoot.
Makeup
Unless we are shooting beauty head-shots, or classic Hollywood glamour portraits, basic, bold makeup will be required. If something specific is needed, we'll discuss beforehand and hire a makeup artist if it's an advanced look. Nails: don't forget nails! I have a small stock of stick-on nails we can use in emergencies.
Travel
Unless I'm asking you to make a very long journey (and I'm not travelling that far) I do not pay travel expenses. I view TFP as a 50:50 enterprise. I cover my expenses such as studio hire, equipment, lunch, insurance etc. and I guarantee, my expenses are larger than yours All you need to do is get yourself to the venue/studio and you are responsible for this. If you are travelling by train, I will collect you from the station and take you back there at the end of the shoot (and we'll end the shoot in good time to get you there for the next train). If you need to leave for any reason during the shoot, just let me know and I'll take you to the station or call you a taxi. If for some reason you miss the train home or it is cancelled etc, I will get you home.
Cancellations
Stuff happens (!) but do tell me asap if you can't make it. Likewise, if I have any problems I'll let you know asap. If you do cancel within 72 hours, I will leave the appropriate reference (unless there is a genuine emergency of course).
On-set
You're welcome to review images on the camera while I build the next set, on breaks etc. When changing, you can either use a separate room, or I will erect a portable screen depending on the studio. Don't forget to bring a robe to wear between sets!
BTS Video
I do sometimes create Behind The Scenes videos for shoots. This involves running a couple of BTS cameras while we shoot, and usually, some pieces to camera by me, and you giving a quick intro to what we're shooting for each set. I usually add the rest as a voiceover in post. This is agreed on a shoot-by-shoot basis and it's not a condition of shooting with me. If we do record BTS though, you are also free to use the footage, and resulting videos. The edited videos are censored in the edit so you can safely post them to Instagram etc. If you want an uncensored version as well, just let me know. Example:
Lunch!
We'll normally break for lunch after set 2, or when I need to swap the background over.
Delivery!
Typically, a day's shooting will produce at least 10 to 15 finished images - and just taking a quick count from recent shoots, usually more. I know some photographers will produce endless version of the same picture, however this is just not practical for most of the styles I produce, and dilutes the impact of the best ones. They are not snapshots, and can involve 1 or 2 hours of post production each, and occasionally much more depending on the complexity and number of elements involved. I do not produce contact sheets, or provide unedited images. I will choose which frames to develop and finish. Image delivery normally starts within 3 days of the shoot, and I will send the images as they complete post-production, in online sizes:
- Wallpaper: sized to 1920 x 1080: the exact size of an "HD" screen. Use this to view on a PC or Mac desktop
- Purpleport: sized to 900 pixels on the long side. The exact size required for Purpleport which means it will not get resized by the website, which lowers quality slightly
- Instagram (where appropriate) 1350 pixels tall 4x5 format (with side bars if needed)
On request I can render full size, print ready versions: full size images rendered into the sRGB colour space and optimised for matt/lustre paper. Big enough to print to ~28 inches at full resolution. Use these for printing only. I retain all the images with multiple backups so if you ever lose them, I can always re-send them.
Collaboration ("TF") Licence terms
Owen Lloyd Photography grants you as the model in the images we shot together, a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use the images, unaltered, for any personal or commercial purpose with the exception of sub-licensing, which is explicitly excluded.
What does this mean? You can do anything with the images you like (put them on social media, Only-Fans, make and sell posters, calendars, etc), for as long as you like. The only right I reserve is licensing: you do not have the right to license the images to a 3rd party, or grant permission to 3rd parties to use them. If anyone approaches you to license the images, send them to me and we'll split any fee 50:50. If I am approached for a license to use the images by a 3rd party, we will also split any fee 50:50.
Other restrictions
The images must not be altered in any way (inc "filters") with the exception of cropping to fit on Instagram. The images must not be used to promote any kind of religion or cult, hate groups, any illegal activity or fraudulent medical "treatments" such as reiki, homeopathy, reflexology etc.
Magazine submissions
There are a growing number of image sharing magazines around and as long as the article or image set is intended to promote your work as a model, you are welcome to submit images to these for publications. Be sure you know the basics of handling digital image files before you do this. If in doubt ask me and I'll send the images in on your behalf.
What do I do with them?
As well as posting them up on portfolio sites such as Purpleport and 500px, I also write for Photoshoot magazine and the images may be used to support these articles. I may also produce posters or other artefacts for sale, and if I do, you are entitled to 50% of any profit from these sales.
Luce Nuda
Some of my work is now available to buy in multiple formats including posters (with or without frames, hangers etc), canvases, and aluminium prints on Luce Nuda ("Naked Light"), a shop full of dramatic nude wall art! If I add work featuring you to this store, I will let you know and give you a link to a collection that shows all products featuring you as a model. You will be paid 50% of the profit from any sales!
Books
In the event that I use the images in a book, I use a points system to work out remuneration for all contributors.
50% of the profit from any book sales is split between contributing models following this formula:-
- Each page is worth 4 points (I'll rarely have more than 4 images on a page)
- If you have a full page image - it is worth all 4 points, 1 of 4 - 1 point 2 out of 4, 2 points, 1 out of 2, 2 points etc.
- Your portion of the profit will be your total points divided by the total for the book (# pages x 4 )
If you got this far - and all that sounds ok to you, feel free to make a pitch! if there is something about the terms you want to change or are unsure about - just ask: it's all negotiable.
