Critiques Welcome

Time for Reflection so we welcome some honest constructive critiques.

Please use the 2024 album, and the other 2 albums to critique and let us know the shot you like most and the shot you dislike the most and of course WHY :-)

I started modelling for fun as a hobby in 2020. before April 2024 I had done about 25 shoots in 3 and a bit years. Between May 2024 and the end of October 2024 I had done a further 23 shoots, all but 4 in studios.

We set up our own shots from the lighting, set, compositions, choose the outfits, accessories, makeup and hair/wigs (lol) and have to say that we have been guilty of being too fond of low light, but we are going to change this, hopefully in the future.

Have at it, and enjoy yourselves...

You need to branch out and shoot with other photographers to learn different posing techniques and different lighting techniques. Some shots are good but some you look too wooden and not relaxed. Do you play any music? If so mix this up from almost dance music to ballads they will affect how you feel.

Watch on YouTube the training videos Peter Coulson does with new models and he is a good source for lighting as well.

Main thing is you should enjoy it and not take it too seriously.

I think my main observation is every shot is very similar, in terms of tone, lighting, processing. If this was a photographers profile you could claim it was a particular style (although even then a bit same-y), but for a models profile I think a little more versatility would be helpful.

So, I think my only recommendation would be work with a wider variety of photographers - will show off your talents to a wider audience.

Hi PlaywithLight, thank you for the review, I've not heard of Peter Colson I will look up some of his model training videos. I so try not to take it too seriously, probably it is the natural RBF I have that makes it look so. Great advice, thank you

Hi JonC, you are so right we looked through our stuff the other day and we said it is getting very boring and too much the same, very good advice Thank you.

I see I've favourites in your port, so I suppose those are the ones I like most.

Why? I don't know, it wasn't a bubble sort bringing the best to the top and worst to the bottom.

The rule given here is that if a model asks for critique we avoid critique of the photography, editing, etc.

Perhaps a mechanism for having team ask for a combined critique would be useful.
