Portfolio re jig

Because my brain has decided it doesnt want to sleep tonight I've decided to have a re jig of my portfolio.

Believe it or not I've shortened my bio although it is still pretty epic I include everything I can think of that's relevant to working with me so you have a clear indication of what to expect if you decide to book me or attend a event I organise.

I've made a ton of new albums and gone through my port putting as many as I could into the albums and making the album covers eye catching. As I had hundreds of images on my port ove tried to keep the most relevant on the main page.

I think I've covered everything I can think of. I'm a huge overthinker hence the information given but to someone like me I find clear consise notes a bonus especially when planning shoots tours and events.

I would love the feedback, anything you think I've not touched on any images that don't belong there etc.

Insomnia sucks so thought I would make use of the time:)

Epic is an understatement.. :-/

I’m partially dyslexic and my brain gave up before we got to the FULL CASE. Really struggled with the first bit because you have justification centralized and I just can’t follow the text.  As for the mass of capitals all I see is a massive block of undecipherable black blobs..  After that you have a mash-up of centralized lower case & full case with a really poor overall layout which is making my brain hurt.

Sorry, but if I had stumbled onto your port whilst looking for a model I would never have got to the images, it's just too noisy & confusing for me to cope with, I’d just move on.

Rob Stanley would it be easier to read if it was I lower case apart from the bold headlines?

I appreciate your feedback and its a shame you wouldn't reach my images as I think ive got some great work over the years.

I've noticed a influx of new models with very scarse ports, being adhd myself I'm a stickler for detail and thought it would be good to include all if the information about myself that a photographer may need to know prior to a shoot to know if I'm a good fit or not as portfolios can sometimes be deceiving. As a photographer myself I always take time to read a models notes, it gives me a insight to their character and work ethics, also their rates and terms and conditions which I find helpful and saves bouncing tons of messages back and forth.

I feel like your bio is also a chance to sell yourself and your work ethic and I pride myself on my personality and experience as well as the ability to create art.

I've tried to condense it down but felt I wanted to include a but about me and how I work, my rates, upcoming events and what to expect when you book me.

I'm not sure how to shorten it further but I can look into amending the capital letters.

Last thing I would want is ti put off potential photographers from even looking at my images when I was just trying rmto be professional freindly and informative.

Beautiful, varied, colourful, fun (as always) ... I'm a fan !

But PLEASE, if you have to use capitals, do it BIT - as I have done HERE ;)

;)

Use a sprinkling of Thesaurus use every so often.

I am extremely experienced ... don't you know ;)

Also ADHD and cannot switch off tonight. Mix in a dollop of Aspergers.

Just also watched tonnes of Nurburgring videos on YouTube :)

Thankfully on holiday - else work would be a bit sporadic in only a few wee hours time! ;)

Moving back to the images ...

Not wanting to come across too smoke-blowey :) ... but you are top of the Champions League when it come to surpassing yourself in what I like to call my 'thumbnails test' **

** Am I, when presented by SOLELY thumbnails ( from photographer, model, MUA ... or Photoshop show-off ;) )

a) intrigued and immersed enough and curious (often from contrasting variety), to explore more detail in the images after scrolling up or down? Am I going to start delving in to 'opened up images' and give myself the full tank ... (literally) the opposite of 'having  seen enough already' ?

OR (and this doesn't necessarily tally with quality at all, I might add)

b) am I already bored shitless, already stereotyping and pigeon-holing them (by the hideously regimented and predictable 'branding' of their often clichéd style / signature image proecessing), already thinking they (might) be too narcissistic and generally 'up themselves' to work with ??

... and maybe most importantly: Possibly they might be hard work to engage with for a half-decent amount of time / not fun / 'all about me' / other negatives.

I know we shouldn’t always judge a book by its cover ... but we do :)

I didn't find it anywhere near as hard to read as others have said. Personally I found it well written, informative but also to the point and covered just about everything.

Though I do agree about using capitals sparingly as it is a little hard on the eyes.

I'm a big fan of lots of info on a port though. It shows that the OP genuinely cares about their work and providing a good service.

I don't think I would actually change much apart from the capitals to be honest with you.

YeaI am 100% with you there.

I would rather have a bit too much in front of me & have to filter some stuff out ... vs not having much to go on.

You can (I do in life generally, for my sins) say too much, over-share, heart-on-your-sleeve (etc). I type how I think (am thinking), in a very linear train of thought way, undeited. I have learned that it is CRUCIAL for me to calmly and slowly read back stuff (portfolio notes and forum replies) in order to make them more concise / realising that I am repeating myself too much ;)

It is one of the things about how my neuro non-typical brain is wired ... something I am learning to be proud of mostly coping with, vs masking too much or denying what makes me 'me'.

The relationship with the above characteristics and mental health and how you are (wrongly) perceived, a lot of the time = no trivial thing if you are the one afflicted. It's no fun at times for those nearest and dearest to you too. Mea Culpa and all that.

Also, rather than vent about stuff online / react to stuff when driving / other stuff with which I can go into 0-100 rants on very easily :) ...

... instead I will 'park it' or increasingly just 'let it go' ;)

Sometimes :) ;)

Aardvark🎯VonEssfolk queen of the thumbnails , I like it :)

Yes I over share I talk to much, I say what I'm thinking but it's bought me alot of freinds on here that appreciate My personality. There's ups and downs to my overactive brain bit I wouldn't change it :)

Looking briefly on my phone, I'll just echo what Rob said: please left justify, please turn off the all- caps, but also please turn off bold, other than to emphasise one or two words.

I'll look again at the content later when I'm on my computer, but those changes will make the text so much more approachable.

Sensual Art thanks I will do when I'm on my PC later on.

I agree with what's been said above - too much text and unfortunately it completely distracts from the incredible images below it.

Some individual suggestions:

  • Group related sentences together into paragraphs - "I have a home studio ..." and "I have a large open lounge ..." is a typical example;
  • Watch out for repetition, swimming/water is mentioned twice in different places;
  • "bebington" should be "Bebington", ditto wirral;
  • There are several spelling mistakes in the capitalised section: "JS", "CSN" etc;
  • For the events, just have a single line for each - as you've said, there's more detail in the separate section.

I hope that helps?

Hello Everly Rose , firstly you have an incredible set of images that reflect your talent and versatility!

As far as the text is concerned, my suggestions would be:

  • Keep it left-justified, lower case and not bold.
  • Avoid repetition.
  • Group ideas together in small paragraphs.
  • Use bullet points to make a list easier to digest.
  • There are a few typos and spelling mistakes (maybe draft the text in Word first so that you can use a spell-checker).
  • Insert a few headings to keep ideas together.
  • Have a punchy sentence or two at the beginning - like an "executive summary" or a strapline.  I'd suggest drafting this when you're happy with everything else.  Maybe something like "I'm a professional model with 10 years' experience.  My key qualities are that I'm hard-working, versatile, creative and punctual.  I have a beautiful home that you can shoot in, I host events and am happy to travel to your preferred shoot location."

I hope that helps!
