My experience as a FPI selector

Tonight’s FPI’s seem to be particularly naff. A few years back they were at least consistent with the over-retouched beauty shots, ballerinas etc. Now they seem to be struggling. Lots of black and whites too which is unusual.

Danger-Shan just noticed you @ me regarding the rail line photo , I'd have no idea why it's not an FPI. I don't think that photo is an FPI , some others may.

Also there are no fliower arrangement head-dresses tonight. Why do people like that stuff anyway? It is not real life. I try to capture 'real life as it happens'. You have to press the button at the decisive moment as Henri Cartier-Bresson used to say.

Also what I don't get is this fawning adulation of front page images, mostly by people who have no photographic talent themselves. Most tonight are absolute crap.

But I am sorry, it must have been a real privelege to have been selected as an elf. To have that power over over people must be satisfiying.

Lenswonder a bit confused by your reply. You think the rail like photo is worthy of an FPI or You don't? :)

DM Photos... Exactly. I started with fashion and street photography -- Capturing real-life-like images that can sell clothes. The best shots are situations that leave a lasting impression. Capturing a moment of time for eternity is also my photography ethos!!

I dreamt about this post last night, very sad for me lol.
Did I understand it correctly that the selectors vote to remove images not up to FPI standard from the FPI queue. My question is how do you get in the queue in the first place?
Also if you display your images to members only like me, does that remove any chance of your work being a FPI, I'm not saying I think I deserve one just confirming that a watermark and members only pics rule me out from an FPI anyway.

tandi yes images which voters think are not up to standard are voted for removal.
Members only images are not barred but members only images will not be shared to other site social media. Contact the site admin further if you want confirmation on that.
An ugly watermark should rule you out, this doesn't mean it always does. A well placed & not on your face watermark should be fine.

Thanks you are up early, or going to bed late. Are you on a full moon Halloween shoot :-) Terrific out there at this time.
