My experience as a FPI selector
Russ Freeman (staff) said, 1729078620
Of the last 1000 FPIs, over 800 were uploaded in the last year, and over 700 were uploaded in the last 90 days.
Deactivated accounts don't show in image credits so no clicks on them.

If there are 100 selectors, how many selector votes are required for a photo to get an FPI?
Do you know the level stats for FPI's, number NSFW, number SFW?
A couple of A.I edited photos appear to have been uploaded recently, do the selectors allow A.I edits in the FPI?
How often are FPI's chosen?
If I suggest an FPI, how many other suggestions are required before the selectors review that image?
I like the FPI's there is some really nice work there. Is there an overall FPI winner for the year, voted by the selectors or members?
sorry for so many questions :-)

I might be able to help with a couple of those...
If I suggest an FPI, how many other suggestions are required before the selectors review that image? -- 'Fraid it doesn't work like that. The 'selected' folder is just a source of pics that the selectors can look at if they choose to do so. Some selectors might make a lot of use of that folder; other selectors might not. It's totally up to the individual selector.
Is there an overall FPI winner for the year, voted by the selectors or members? - There isn't. The principal purpose of FPIs is to advertise the site, so it's not a competition. And given the conspiracy theories that about about the FPI system itself, I reckon that any competitive aspect would cause a massive cyber punch-up.

- It works the opposite to how you think; Once a threshold of votes is reached, if 75% of the votes is to remove the image from the queue then it's removed.
- Yes, it depends on the level of AI use.
- There is no frequency of choices made since 100+ people choose when they like. FPIs are published hourly.
- Zero.
- No.

Il. add some from my knowledge picked up from previous posts.
Minimum votes 40, 75% need to be a yes
SFW is the majority but one of the stats people can add to that.
AI editing is ok, but as the rules are no AI generated imagery. AI is used in so many ways so basic editing and changing the background can use AI. Its more of where the image is solely generated
FPIs chosen all the time by the selectors to go in the Q but I think the system aims to upload 1 every 1 to 2 hours a day once they have the required votes. But depends how many are queued.
Hope that helps

Andy - With respect to Mr.Bruin (I haven't a clue whether or not he's one of the selectors - and it's none of my business anyway), given that Mr.F owns the site I think his answer can be taken as gospel and that any alternative answers are either guesswork or incorrect. (Sorry, Mr.Bruin. Hope that didn't sound too rude.)

I apologise wrote it to quick and said it the wrong way. 75% of the votes is to remove the image from the queue then it's removed. Still once it reaches 40. I will now hang my head in shame. Thanks Mr Carter.
ps not rude

Thanks I realised that, but wanted to highlight the confusion in the whole process. I lost confidence in it several months ago when over a period of a few weeks images from the same set where in the queue for 6 days before dropping out, apart from the final one. To me, it was the weakest image of all those that had been previously chosen to be in the queue.
There is a huge volume of quality work on this site that goes unfpi'd whilst I am frequently amazed at what does make it, until I look at those credited.....
I am pleased that a few of those I've suggested have made it to the front page and I'll continue suggest stuff.

thanks so much, I am now a FPI database of information :-)
I asked about the A.I edits because someone published and asked not to be suggested as an FPI. As A.I edits are allowed, I am going to suggest that photo now because I liked it so much. Obviously I know that my suggestion may not be used by all of the selectors, but hopefully enough could potentially agree with me :-)

First point.. there are some people (Admin and the current bunch of elves) who know exactly how the system works, and there are lots and lots of others who think they know how the system works or who simply guess. The only 'confusion' is caused by people who talk as if they know but who do not actually know.
'When I look at those credited'... Not that old chestnut again. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! :(
[P.S: I'm NOT an Elf. And I, too, have had pics in the queue for a week or so, only for them to be voted out. Is it a conspiracy? If so, they're conspiring against the two of us in the same manner. Would you like to join me in my shelter?]

I used to go to art galleries, but I was appalled by the same old names credited in the pieces. There were so many pieces that I really didn't think were good enough to be shown, and literally millions of ones that should be, including my own.
After that, I stopped attending art galleries.

Didn't say it was a conspiracy, just I lost confidence in the process. Very different things. Congrats on Today's FPI.
