My mum watched it all the way through and thought it was complete rubbish.  She told me she watched Points of View and the general consensus was it was rubbish.  They had a statement from the producer or writer on it, apparently it was supposed to be a comedy!

I think the correct term is farce.

I was watching a video on screenwriting which highlighted that regardless of whether it’s comedy or drama, the actions and dialogue has to make sense for the character performing them. Comedy derives from the character being funny.

Breaking characters just to advance the plot is just plain lazy screenwriting, unless you lampshade it but then you almost wind up with no fourth wall.

That makes 3 of us, at least. Yes, there were massive holes in the plot but it was enjoyable.
