What should I do with a worthless DSLR?

Apart from having your answer in the first comment...
Give it to someone.
Give it to a geeky child who doesn't have any experience with a typical camera -- I have given one to a nephew, passed another on to another nephew. One of those nephews is now a quite talented photographer.
Give it to an artistic friend who has no money.
Teach them how to use it too.
Or donate it to a charity shop. The British Heart Foundation sell things like that on eBay for actual money to people who have some reason to buy it.
^ Yep.
Agreed!

I didn't notice the "worthless" bit, sorry -- if MPB themselves said that, it's probably because the sensor is marked/scratched or the mount is warped. Or there's more than one thing needing repair. Not much else would cause them to turn down a D780, I'd have thought.
If they gave you details on why it is worthless, maybe don't give it to a charity shop because you'd just be causing them aggro.

I've had a few very old digital cameras and old manual focus lenses rejected as worthless - Ffordes, rather than MPB.
It doesn't take much to make something uneconomic to service or repair.
Daughter's Canon 30D would be one that springs to mind.
My 5D4 sits on a microscope and earns money - trade in value was so far below what it was worth as a tool that it was ridiculous.
So... economic value and "working value" are quite far apart for DSLRs.

As MPB have used Nikon D780 for sale on their website for between £700 and £1,200, to describe them as worthless is rather odd but it’s obviously worthless to them. It might be because the ones they already have in stock aren’t selling so they don’t want any more stock.
As a D750 user myself, I must have a camera that is worth even less than being worthless 😂

My guess is that there might be rather more on the shelves than they list.
A price collapse would hurt them very badly, like any second hand dealer with large stocks of DSLRs.

If it will sell at any price they would typically list it. At times they have had 30+ Sony A7IIs. It's an international business now.
Hopefully they gave some detail as to why it is worthless, because they still have things like the Nikon D50 and D70S in stock:
https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/product/nikon-d70s
Unless there has been a policy change and they are not taking on simply well-worn cameras anymore.

I don't think they're shy about stock levels. Looks like they have thousands of cameras in stock.
They have something like 400 Fujifilm bodies in stock, and over 50 each of quite number of popular bodies like the Canon 5D III or Sony A7III's for example.

Maybe keep it as a prop ?
MPB "International business" - however they aren't interested in selling to a NZ address.

I reckon Huw is closer to the mark, holding stock of aged goods is not a good current business model given the lack of their desirability with age in addition relatively lower prices of new cameras and lenses being released. Overstock isn't too bad if you have a 50% mark up on stock held, it can be discounted and sold yet still return a margin, this will have knock on effect. Used cameras are much like used cars, tanking atm. Grey market products are ever more popular too and prices dropping on those.

If it still works then
CEX?
Cash Converters?
Donate to charity shop?
Contact your local camera club and ask if they know any one with limited funds trying to get in to photography?
Failing that, disposal under WEEE.

Donate 100percent to some kid that will benefit from it, a nikon education is priceless before hitting mirrorless

Novel idea - I've often had models wanting to try shooting. Why not offer it as payment and take one out on a shoot?

Consider a local senior school. My local has a shocking lack of kit despite offering an A level course.

I got my Canon 5D3 converted to Infrared. It was just sitting on the shelf doing nothing since I got the R5. I didn't want to sell it as the prices now are way too low for the quality of camera it is. I love my 5D3. Now I take awesome black & white infrared shots of architecture and landscapes with it. I'm also experimenting with headshots too.

Sounds like there's interest here. I'd suggest listing it here on the Wanted/For Sale page inviting offers.
