Best things for cleaning screens

Afternoon all,

Does anyone have any tips on solutions or wipes for cleaning my laptop screen? No idea how it gets like this as it isn't touch screen, but I appear to be able to leave fingerprints everywhere

Cheers

Phill

I use lens cleaner and lens cloth. White vinegar or a little window spray might be just as good.

A high quality microfibre cloth is what I use most of the time. Gets the screen squeaky clean without chemicals. Occasionally i use some Zeiss lens wipes but thats very often.

As someone who has far too much car cleaning equipment, I use these microfibre cloths, bloody brilliant things.

Be extremely cautious with Zeiss lens wipes on laptop displays. Some displays have anti-glare coatings that the Zeiss wipes can harm. Famously but not uniquely the 2015 Macbook Pros.

A damp microfibre cloth will do a good job.

Unfocussed Mike cheers Mike, I’ve got a 2019 iMac and 2023 MacBook so will stick to the microfibre treatment

I often find it therapeutic to ponder upon my last photoshop edit whilst brushing my teeth. A bit of spit on the end of my finger usually clears up the bigger blobs. I might switch to a microfibre cloth next time. I did get some lens cleaner but luckily keep forgetting to use it.

Water, ideally deionised.  Microfibre clothe.  Just a little damp.  No chemicals.

I use the cleaner from Eizo. Use: turn off the screen, spray the cleaner on your monitor and clean with a microfiber cloth.

IMPORTANT: Never use thinner, benzene, alcohol (ethanol, methanol or isopropanol), abrasives or other strong solvents, as these may damage the cabinet or LCD screen.

Cabinet
To remove stains on the cabinet, wipe them off with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent. Never spray wax or other cleaning agents directly onto the cabinet.

LCD Screen
To clean the screen surface, use a soft cloth (such as a cotton cloth or an eyeglass cleaning cloth). Stubborn stains can usually be removed by dampening the cloth with a little water.
