If you stay anywhere particularly picturesque (particularly north of, say, Lanarkshire), you should be aware that there is a non-zero chance the water is from a private water supply and its quality might be rather seasonal or dependent on weather a few months earlier. This is probably more likely in the era of Airbnb. The further away from a town you are, the more likely you're drinking from a well. And if it's not from a well, it's probably from tanks. 

Crap water pressure is something you should always factor into thinking about a stay away from city centres in Scotland, IMO. Even in the 21st century. 

But to the point of water in hotel rooms in general: anywhere other than a busy, modern, expensive city centre hotel or a really expensive boutique hotel, you should get out of the habit of drinking from the taps. And give the kettle some serious scrutiny before you use it.

Some of the reviews really are pretty bad. The job reviews on indeed.co.uk are not good either.

I’ve not really looked into this place. A few years ago the ‘derelict’ look was very much in vogue.

So is this place not quite derelict enough to be cool? Apologies for the dumb question but it’d help understand why they’re unsuitable as a shoot location? Versus a nice weekend away?

Not derelict to be cool at all, it's run down and shouldn't be offering services to paying customers without addressing some serious hospitality issues

Unfocussed Mike the guest reviews are bad, speaking to the surrounding hotels is a shock, they can't employ locals because they can't even pay them, the current staff are from Manchester and stranded in Scotland now with no way of getting out

TBF he probably is on purpleport. Now he's retired he only complains about model rates. 

The first Google Street View doesn't fill me with great expectations of surviving a stay!

Hartleys thanks. I’ve had a quick dekko and it definitely seems they have ‘opportunities to improve’ 😂.

My question was simply based on the assumption they were / are claiming to be especially suitable for photoshoots (as opposed to a few days away) hence an obvious subject for here.

Definitely won’t be on my ‘must visit’ list

TBF he probably is on purpleport. Now he's retired he only complains about model rates. 

He tried to hire a model from Barcelona. But it transpired that Spanish models are significantly more expensive than Spanish waiters... :-)
